Just a quick shout out to dillon at zen moto. My bike performed perfectly at turkey creek, my first ride in about four months. Me, not so much! I got hung up on this sandy uphill and needed like four tries to make it.

Thanks for the great service, and I know it'll do great at howlin at the moon this weekend.

Hey folks, I am doing my 2nd LA-Barstow-Vegas ride this year, and the 17 miles of deep sand kicked my butt last year. (KLR650)
So, now I have a WR, and I'm looking for advice on where to find some deep sand to practice in, hopefully within 50 miles or so of Mesa. Any advice?
    Thanks in advance,

    Garry (from Gilbert)

Go out to Sycamore. You can take the Usery Pass, make a right on Bush HWY until you reach the Beeline.

At the intersection of the Beeline and Bush I'm not sure if you can stage out of there but if not you could stage at Pobrecito which is about half a mile from the Beeline.

There's a huge sand wash leading from NF-403 with a bunch of trails out there.

Hassyampa River bed is good also. North of I-10 or north of Wickenburg. Deeper and softer sand than Sycamore area (IMHO).

I PM'd and texted many of you already this morning. We are getting together at the TT Roadhouse (NE corner of 68th st and Thomas Rd in Scottsdale) for bike night tonight and having a sendoff for John Graves/ azcagiva and the rest of the team leaving for mexico to race in the Baja 1000.

There's more info here , but these guys are raising awareness and money for the Wounded Warrior Project that assists injured veterans.

Looking to the wisdom here for advice on getting my WR450 street legal here in Maricopa County. I know I need headlight, tail light, brake light, horn and mirror, and emissions. I don't see a requirement for turn signals, and since the bike will be used 99% off road, I'd rather not install any. Is there an actual inspection performed? Anyone have a WR450 thru emission testing recently?

Any advice, suggestions, or experience with this is appreciated!

    Thanks!

There is a weak assed inspection performed but no turn signals needed. I don't even think I had a mirror when I got my DR650 inspected. There are some threads about emissions testing but just lean it out if it's fat right now. That or take it to Dillon's @ Zen Moto and he'll pay off the emissions testing guys to pass it for ya. :lol3

I read a lengthy report on the bike testing finally being put through and bikes will not have to be tested starting in 45 to 60 days. Anyone else hear this?
