Saw DeCoster's comments post moto1 about electronics failure, but my question about the starting is "did they remove the kickstart?" Or do the KTM MX bikes only have e-start now? I was confused by him resorting to pushing, but if there was no kickstarter then I'd understand.
Miller Motorsports new track. Looks like fun! The dirt looks weird though. It almost looks like gravel/sand. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/dMfP8I5H7A8" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
As far as I've seen - estart only and no kickstart. The estart has probably saved him more times when everybody else is kicking than it's failed.
Shock failure in SX and now starter failure on the best KTM in the country?! Doesn't say much for orange reliability!?! :huh
Shock failure was due to an experimental air shock KTM has been testing & electronics... I've known more than one bike / vehicle over the years to have one. It happens.
Remember when his Suzuki wouldn't start before the moto a few years ago? His KTM 450SX doesn't even have a place for a kick starter on the engine cases. I think that is on the production bikes starting in 2013 as well.
That's not a motocross track, it's just a long, dusty supercross track. Terrible. Spectators are going to be miserable! .
I was debating if I should bring my camera to Redbud this year, but my daughter wanted a few pictures of her favorite riders. So I thought I would have some fun and go old school. All I took was the camera, one battery, one CF card and a 300mm f4 lens, and a 1.4 converter. Turned off the AF, single shot mode, and did NO chimping. I was going to tape out the screen but still needed to see some menu stuff. It was hard to not chimp and just trust you where getting the right exposure and focus. No post work or cropping. Here are the 250's. 450's maybe tomorrow.
They have taken away the option with new cases. Maybe it was just the Dungey Replica in 2013, but now all of the 450SXs and I just saw where also the 4TXCs have lost the option for the new bikes coming out. I can't believe his bike didn't start. I lost my kickstart lever in Moab on my old '07 525 and didn't bother replacing it for over a year! My current electric start 300 must have turned that bike over a zillion times with all original parts.
these bikes have enough electronics on board to communicate with a laptop so it may not be as simple as the E start not working. He may have stalled it OR it may have glitched, quit, and whatever caused that also made a restart not possible.
Nice foto's. Its interesting to see the different ways and fingers used to operate the clutch and brake.
Maybe we should let them finish building before shitting all over the effort to bring another racetrack to the country.
KTM said when the bike got back to the pits it fired right up and everything tested out with no problems. I hate that shit.
