Hi all. So I have a mitas Eo7 rear and a conti tkc 80 front. What pressures do you guys run? And what would you recommend for both off road and pavement use? Thanks
you are going to get 4,000,000 opinions.... You will have to work it out for yourself...having said that... TKC 80 is a SOFT sidewall tire for the 21" wheel....very easy to pinch flat and no fun when she blows on the freeway....Set it near 30psi and work from there...if you go lower than 28ish and hit anything....bye bye tube.... Back tire is not as touchy....set it to 32 for everything and leave it... a few pounds more or less on a 500lb+, 100hp+ bike means nada..... enjoy
We run on average higher pressure than what has been posted here. On pavement anything between 2.8bar to 3.0 bar. I run E09's but the guys with the bigger bikes over here run similar pressures. I run 2.8 back and 2.6 front ,but running Mitas XT644 up front. I only deflate if the going gets rough or really soft, otherwise good gravel I run the same pressures.
i keep mine at 33 psi. Not a problem, never had a flat. This is my third set. You could lower them to get more traction, but be carefull. I wouldnt go lower than 28, but thats just me.
What pressure is ideal for longevity? Ive got the E07's on my SE and the bike is loaded for traveling. Have soft bags and a small duffle on the seat. Id say maybe 50-60lbs of gear. Only put about 40 miles on them so far at 42psi as the sidewall states for max load. Ran them at 32psi on the last set for all around riding. What is ideal for long life and carrying the load?
I'm not going to fan the flames for another oil thread ,ops I mean tire thread...but I do want to say I am very very impressed with E07 in dirt. Couple of weeks ago I rode with two SE both on Dunlop 908 on my 990 with E07. We had to climb a very gnarly steep muddy trail right after a creek crossing. There was no way a 9x0 could make it up without help just to give you a idea of condirions. My bike with a fresh E07 rear and knobbies in the front, made better traction than those SE bikes with 908. I was surprised. I walked back down and rode one of the SE bikes up. E07 clears mud very well. However it likes to have lower than average trail riding pressure to grip well in dirt. I run about 15psi if not less. On the road I run no more than 35psi. Anything higher without lots of load will wear the center of the tire prematurely IMO.
