Tried a search for adjusting valves on a 990 after not finding anything in the HOW. Can anyone point me to any threads covering this procedure! Thks!

did you just buy the big shim kit or whats the best way to go about this. i am thinking about under taking this valve adjustment myself but i don't want to leave the top end of my motor open for days waiting on parts.
Yes, the Big Kit four your exact reasons. I just did it for the first time last december. With this Kit I did not have to fish around for the exact Shim somewhere since the Kit had so many options. However this Big Kit comes in .005 increments and you might have to Block Sand some to get to the Perfect Size needed.
If you have a Harley dealer near you. V rod uses the same shime avalabile in half sizes. I recently did my valves for the first time. I read on adv about the v rod shims. Amazing enough there the right shims. Perfect
Sorry to butt in on your post... What feeler gauges work good for this? I went to Autozone to pick up some tappet type gauges but am having trouble finding a set with the range of sizes needed. Thanks.

Just to echo what slojoe said the Harley ones are a lot easier to get a hold of and cheaper and come in finer sizes than the KTM ones do. If there is anyone around with another adventure try to get together and do it as a group. Always nice to have some other folks around to give you a little confidence.
