    Hey Guys -
Glad to see everyone, welcome aboard.

    Departure 2/2/14

First things first, Lica had to drive 15hrs. to meet up with Ceasar.

Check out that paint, Lica free handed that. I'’m not sure what’'s more impressive, the painting skills or his imagination. For the record, he doesn'’t smoke pot.

Once at Osito'’s (Ceasar) place, they did some last minute prep like mount and balance tires.

I did a couple of things to my bike to prepare for this ride. The first was to renew my Black Dog bash plate.

We (LittleWan and I) find that every couple of years this vital piece of armor needs to be replaced. We beat on this thing relentlessly and hard.
Deep gouges and large dents are the norm, but every once in a while we get one of those big hits that lifts the bike in the air and knocks the wind out of us.
It’'s those really hard hits that make us happy we have this kind of protection. This plate has saved us some seriously long hikes. :lol3

The only other thing I did was to remove my crash bars.
I decided I wasn’'t going to crash anymore, so, therefore I wouldn'’t need crash bars. I really should'’ve thought of this earlier. :rofl

Lica was doing some final testing on his new fairing. He teamed up with Ian at Britannia Composites Ltd. to create the ultimate 990 fairing.
It really is impressive. The fiberglass work is strong and clean, the light output with a 55 watt hid low beam in a projector and a Baja Designs Squadron high beam is perfect. :thumb

To top that off they have a solution for the wind buffeting you get on the highway. It really works.
I was a little skeptical about how well the sliding wind protection would hold up to the rigors of Baja.
Lica, however, was fully committed to testing this fairing. He hurled himself over the bars not once, but twice, with no problems (for the fairing). :lol3
