I stole this idea from a bicycle trials forum. Seem to work great for Noob questions. Now, at least inmates won't have to start a new thread. For every questions asked. Embrace your stupidness...ask away... I'll start... How do you change a tubeless rear tire? And, do you use a heavy duty tube in the front tire?
As far as tubeless goes, they are super easy, I go down the hill and say hey can you have this done today? ( my local shop). Not a great answer, but I do have another ??? So I know you can start anywhere on the loop as long as you do them in order. My question is, could you then star your next loop in a different place, or does the first loop set the order for the whole trial?
Local rule may be different, but around here you pick any section and start there. After that you do all loops with the same starting section. Started loop one at section #5, you will start every loop afterwards at #5. Otherwise you are taking them out of order. Now what makes a trials tire special from a knobby tire?
I was under the impression that it was about the way the tire gripped things... I have never seen a knobby that will do this as good as a trials tire will. I want to get started in trails. I've been looking on the intronet and see that the biggest trails bikes are only about 300cc's. I've got a kick ass bored out CR500 with full race knobbies, so I know I can handle a bigger trails bike. Does anybody make one?
A 222 lbs bored 500 MX race bike, compared to a 145 lbs 300 purpose build climbing bike. Sounds like a conundrum to me...
I have the same questions: Is this the only answer (I find that hard to believe)? What about the HD tube Q? For you, anything/everything is possible.
Larry, I can only speak for our club, but in NMTA you can start the trial on any section, but once you start you have to ride all sections in order and start every loop on the same section as the first loop.
I usually run a heavy duty tube in the front to help prevent small thorn punctures and pinch flats. Nothing I hate more than changing a flat front tire during an event!
How come most riders dab on the wrong side. Never fails, a left turn will get a right side dab. Just the opposite of what they need!:huh
That's a great question! I did that multiple times yesterday even after telling myself as I was entering the section to make sure I dabbed on the side that would allow me to position the bike properly and then still dabbed on the wrong side.

I was moving both wheels while footed, just very difficult to 'push' the rear wheel away from you when your foot is down on the wrong (inside) of the turn.
You were watching me ride Sunday no doubt, i not only dabbed on the wrong side, I dabbed where there was nothing to dab on (went on my ear right in front of NMTrailboss ).
Do southern hemisphere trials riders have problems with left turns the way northern hemisphere riders have problems with right turns?
