Heading this way, when as far as I can remember the truck in front of me turns right. A woman coming the other way decided she was going to make a left without having any idea what might be behind that truck. As the truck is clearing the intersection and my path, all I can see is the woman in her SUV turning directly in front of me. I apparently launched over the SUV and landing somewhere on the other side. The bike's front wheel and fork where embedded in the side of the SUV. I was pretty much unconcious till I heard the paramedics arriving. They strapped me to a board and took me to the emergency room. I had pain in my groin, probably from riding up and over the tank, so I was given a pelvic x-ray. I also was given a CAT scan of my brain due to me being unconscious and having a concussion. Both the x-rays and CAT scan where negative. No broken bones, no bleeding brain, no internal injuries, so I was released. No work today though, and probably not tomorrow either.
:huh :huh :huh Wow. I think you should take tomorrow off, too. :eek1 And hire an attorney to protect your rights and cover the bills that will undoubtedly arrive.
The culprit's vehicle. She apparently had her eight year old daughter in the front passenger seat. Thankfully, from what I was told by the reporting officer, both mother and daughter are OK, thanks at least in part to the vehicle they were in. I'm not worse off than I am, at least in part to being fully geared up. Not gonna play the ATGATT nazi card, but there's not much doubt it saved me a lot of trauma. Some stuff I was able to rescue from the top case.
It's a shame, glad to hear you're okay. That was a beautiful zuk too. I wonder how many folks saw the damaged bike and figured it was some squid :eek1
Glad you got out of it ok. Buy a lottery ticket! Looks like the car's side airbag deployed. The people were lucky as well. 8 is kind of young to be in the front seat.
Wow! We will all be a little more careful of the blind left turner, so your crash won't go to waste. Thanks for wearing all the gear so we will have the opportunity to shake your hand at the next getogether.
Bikehigh, glad you are ok. Your dive, tuck and roll along with good luck were in your favor for sure. Hope any healing needed is simple and quick. Sorry to see your bike so busted up, from the looks of it I would not expect to see you available for the photoshoot. Good luck with everything, I think you should take off the week!
^^^^^^^^THIS^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Make them buy you a new bike! Glad you are OK. I swear I have been at that intersection before....
Terrible news Charles but glad you weren't hurt too bad! How many miles did you have on that bike, you sure put some miles on it?
Once again it sounds like the cager's brain was looking for a car, so overlooked the possibility of a narrower vehicle hidden by the SUV. This topic was being discussed elsehwere on advrider, and my thought was that driver training should encorporate more motorcycles into their videos, books, and pictures in an effort to train young brains to keep us in mind. Glad you are around to post about it.
:eek1 Wow! Glad you're okay. Looking forward to more of your great Jersey Tags like Rossi's last week. Regards - Kurt in AZ
