It seems like a lot of us here have kids (or grandkids) and my riding time (and life) revolves around mine now. I thought it would be cool to have a thread for pics, videos and stories of our kids...

I too have to organize riding around my kids. We got a few more kids into bikes about a month ago. Next season looks good for riding buddies!

Our rule was that they had to be able to touch the ground and pick the bike up by themselves. My daughter started on a Z-50 when she was 6. Hayden is small for his age, so but the Oset allowed him to start riding at 6 too.

I don't have any kids, so I have nothing to contribute, but this thread makes me smile! You all are fantastic fathers that are hard to find these days, and Scott, your video is absolutely priceless! Watching your interaction with your kids, and even the manners of your dog represents what kind of father/man you are. All of you should give yourself a pat on the back. I will add a little story about my first bike as a kid and will add the fond memories of that time of my child hood. Sorry to interupt your thread.

My parents, well, let's rephrase that, my Mom, wouldn't let me own any motorbikes as a kid. So I resorted to riding friends bikes, etc. My parents divorced when I was in 6th grade, and by the time I was in 7th or 8th grade I finally got my first bike, a 1974 Honda CR125 Elsinore. I bought it at a garage sale for $50. It hadn't ran in 10+ years, but I paid for it out of my own pocket, pushed it home, and showed my Dad how proud I was. So, what I did for the next 2 days was the usual to get it running. Took the carb apart, etc. Put it all back together and recruited my Dad to be the first one to try and start it, since he could touch the ground while kickstarting it. Little did I know, since I was like 11, and I was so concerned about getting it running I did not bother to look to see if the thing even had a kill switch(nope, gone). So, my Dad kicked away, and it fired on the first kick! and went straight to an RPM that that thing was not supposed to run at! My Dad's expression was priceless and I remember it vividly to this day. Well, he had been out of riding for 10 years or so, and was not the most mechanically inclined individual, he was freaking out, as was I. Finally, my years of riding friends bikes and stalling them from being in too high of gear came to thought. I yelled, "put it in high gear and let the clutch out!!!" He did and it finally came to rest.... The neighbor heard all the commotion and came over and helped us detect the problem. Me being the super smart 11 year old I was, when I put the carb back together, I put the spring underneath the throttle slide, instead of on top. Yeah, learning experience. I ended up riding that bike for a year or two, and then aquiring an early 80's YZ with a mono shock and a blown motor and thought it would be great to swap the CR motor in to that frame, and as the attention span of a very early teenager goes between hockey, friends, puberty etc, it never got done and both bikes went to scrap. Damn shame, as if that elsinore was still together it'd be worth 50 times what I paid for it or more.

Anyways, sorry to interupt your thread about your current kids, it just reminded me of my first bike and felt like reminiscing. Carry on.... Great thread!!

It's cool to see your second grader holding a better line than you are through the turn...

I think when he grows into the bike, I'll have to upgrade my KLX250 to something a little more aggressive; if I want to keep up.
