Just another shitty ride report by Lindsay...

Last Friday, Dave and I headed off to Birmingham, AL to check out the AMA races and vintage museum at Barber Motorsports Park. Saturday morning, we headed for the track and spent the first bit checking out displays and odd bikes.

I found this great Honda scooter that I must have. Mr. Crabs joins me.

Dave found the Rune, which I'm still not sure I like. I sat on it, though, and it was surprisingly well balanced for weighing so much.

We found this goofy blue and white GS (which Dave tells me is the fastest color) that had a really ghetto shelving unit doubling as a rear rack. Whatever works, I guess.

    Alabama plate. Figures. :):

Mr. Crabs found the Hooter's girls. They were surprisingly unattractive for being Hooter's girls. I was a bit disappointed. Mr. Crabs seemed happy, though.

Bruce Transportation Group's Snap-On box with my favorite graphic in motorsports--the kids in the bus.

    These damn things were everywhere...

Ah... My future race bike, an Aprilia RS250 with Hawaiian flowers.

I still haven't figured out why people do this. Probably because it attracts the attention of strange people who carry around a stuffed crab.

Mr. Crabs gets all the chicks. Here, he poses with the ladies from Race Girl, who he guesses have never been on a motorcycle in their lives.

Next, he acosted the Ducati girl (who definitely needs to try this thing called eating) from Umbrella Girls USA.

Awww... What a nice shot. Jim and Drew Vecchione (father and son), owners of Moto Britalia in Woodstock, GA.

    Hi, boys...

    Now, a few track pictures...

Some sculpture near the racetrack. I couldn't get close enough for a really good picture, but they are large ants. One has a rider hanging from it, and one has the rider's bike. Funny stuff.

Ah, the museum. Best part of the trip. It's a Harley, but I like it.

    Fuh-reaky.

A row of MVs. Oh, look...I'm in this picture, too.

This bike had four miles on it.

    It's a motorcyclist's wet dream.

The Mike Hailwood corner. It's me, again!

This thing is fugly...and so is the Eye Abuser behind it.

Two handlebars. Two brake levers. One shifter. Learning model? I don't get it.

It must be good. Some guy named 'Shaw' made it.

I really like this Harley, too.

My ultimate dream bike, although I'd be too afraid to ride it. I would give limbs for this thing.

And, here's my Moto Giro bike.

Lawrence of Arabia really likes this one.

This bike is so great, it gets three pictures...

On to Moto Britalia's hospitality tent, which was a huge success. They had this 999 custom painted. Silver body with darker greyish-silver stripes. Very, very nice.

I got to ride the orange scooter...fun, but harder than riding a motorcycle, in my opinion. Later, Dave and I took the silver scooter out for a spin. For a bit, I drove while he rode bitch. I was pretty sure we were going to crash. But, surprisingly, we didn't.

Overall, it was a great weekend. Barber is a top-notch facility...very well-groomed and well thought-out. I wish I'd taken more pictures of the grounds, but that just gives me an excuse to go back.

If I could have one bike in the whole museum it would be the Britten. Hands down.

Now I just have to break Flug of his Ducati aversion...
