Speaking of hammocks, I'm still trying to figure out how to camp in mine. Is there an "Idiots guide to hammock camping" thread? So I can read explanations without having to ask the dumb questions myself.

There are forums dedicated to it. I say tie out between two stationary objects and go to sleep. for more details, Google. You'll find people who spend way too much time thinking about hammocks.

great hammock spots! not a problem at all :deal

cars/trucks will be in the front area of the camp ground - but you can camp in it (no hook-ups and no big RV's).

Ask Glenn. I've been hanging for over 40 years and like anything else in life, you never really stop learning. But the basics are easy so just ask.

    Cool.

Where do you put your stuff, especially your boots?

In a tent you can undress and get into your sleeping bag, leaving your clothes & boots next to the sleeping bag. What do you do with the clothes & boots when sleeping in a hammock?

I have trouble getting into a sleeping bag in a hammock too. They are both slippery and the hammock is curved, so it's a loosing battle (and I'm usually tired and/or buzzed). If it's not cold, I'm okay.

I have used three different methods.
1: Pull the Panniers off the bike and put clothes on top.
2: I generally have a chair with me. Clothes etc go of the chair.
3: I have used a second, light hammock hung beneath the one I sleep in to hold gear.

For changing, privacy, I use a large tarp and I carry two adjustable MSR poles. I can put one side of the tarp up, like an awning or down for privacy or to keep foul weather out.

Getting into your bag: I bring a mat with me to stand on to a: keep my feet clean and b: I will get into the bag while standing on the mat, sit down in the hammock, swing my feet up and then lay down. Then just zip the bag as you lay there.

if it matters, the bridge from hot springs to del rio is open now. i was wandering today and found myself thinking, "my, what a lovely white bridge i'm on." then i realized where i was and that i didn't have to dodge anything orange.
