I'm thinking about updating my R100 powered EML sidecar with a carbureted R1100 or R1150 motor and transmission. The EML frame is stronger and longer than a stock R100 frame. Questions: Making the drive shaft line up? External aftermarket oil cooler? Electronic speedometer? I have a complete fabrication shop with tube bender, welder, lathe, etc...

Please post some pics of your EML Airhead. I am building up a R90/6 powered Wasp Replica. What are you changing over to Oilhead? Engine only, Engine + Gearbox or complete drive line? You may find the offset of the drive output shaft differs about 30mm (?) if you were going to run the EML airhead swingarm in the back, you would either offset the motor in the frame to line up the drive shaft or move the right pivot out to the right to compensate. That is what HPN do to their airheads with a Oilhead swingarm, you would already know this. If you are running the complete drive line then its a matter of measuring how much width you have to play with. Being a sidecar it shouldnt have too much impact. Oil cooler, the bigger the better with a thermostat. Oh please post build pics
I would rather off set the motor/trans to line up with the stock swing arm than relocate the swing arm pivots. I'll start a build thread when I get a motor and trans.
The cycles on that site are very charming. It would be nice to have a detailed technical description of them. There were several 'project' BMW's at the Barber Vintage Meet this year. I observed the meet attendees really interested and taking notes on the them. They were all generic builds. That comment is nothing negative about those builds. It is just that it seems the OUS (outside the US) builders really take on very technical builds w/ their BMW 'project' machines. They push the technical and art boundaries, which is really cool. Carl
