$400 for springs :eek1 They only cost $200 down here. Even with my fat ass though I didn't need to respring the front. Re-valving front and back was $200

Springs cost about $150 for the forks and about the same for the shock. Not sure if your $200 price is for both ends or just one end?

The upgraded collar is not cheap but the OEM shock collar will most likely break with the heavier spring and then you've got to replace the whole shock. It's also a custom designed piece for the OEM shock, so it's not something that you can buy off the shelf from WP. Only SuperPlush and Rally Raid UK make upgraded shock collars afaik.

That's BOTH, hell Racetech springs are like a $115 for the front and $115 for the rear and that's full MSRP direct from them. My cost was $99 for the shock spring.

I've had my OEM shock collar with the heavy spring running on 6 years and probably 25K miles now and it still hasn't broken. :dunno

gen: I see that you went with a 100nm rear spring, how much do you weigh?

I want to change my front fork caps to the adjustable pre-load caps. Do I need to alter the 472mm spring length when I install the adjustable caps?

The bikes sag is about 1/2" and I am 240lbs so when I sit on the bike it sags maybe another 1/2" Is this typical? I'm guessing I need to loosen up the spring?

No need to cut the springs, but the caps will add a few mm of preload even when they are backed all the way out... they are only intended to add preload to the stock setting, they cannot lessen it. FYI: 1" PVC pipe can be cut into any size you'd like and placed between the stock caps and springs to add preload, though if you think you'll have the need/want to regularly adjust preload, the caps are clearly the better option.

I'm replacing the spring on the shock on my 2012 690 Enduro R.

    Current spring - 220mm - 80Nm

    New spring - 204mm - 95Nm

The supplier is checking if this is correct.

Any ideas? Should the stronger spring be shorter?

    Thanks,

    Nick.

Not if you want less suspension travel?

I think you want your new spring to be the same length as the OEM.

Also, if you are replacing the spring, you should seriously consider replacing the collar with a Rally Raid UK or Super Plush (US) aftermarket collar because the OEM collar has failed on a number of shocks with aftermarket springs.

    I'm replacing the collar also.

    This is what concerns me.

    Shorter spring = less travel.

    Is this correct?

Only if you are running into coil bind before the shock bottoms out internally. Otherwise the spring length has no effect on the stroke/travel of the shock.

    Ok, thanks. That makes sense.
The piston can move 52mm before it touches the stopper.
The spring looks like it would compress 100mm.
    So no worries....

    Thanks,

    Nick.

    "......Available in 250mm & 275mm wheel movements."

    Mitch,

    Two Questions?

    1. Can you explain the criteria (function) for selecting between the two sizes which are offered?

    2. Are the units you've received prototypes or are you selling units that have already (hopefully) had the "bugs" worked out?

    thanx in advance--stan

Nice. Hey YP, when you redid your stock suspension, what size rear spring did you go with?

On the OEM I had an 8.4 N/m

If I remember correctly the OEM rear is marginally OK. It's the front that brutally harsh.

    The RR I'm getting w/ a 9.5 N/m
