I had a set on my V-Strom and they are waaaaaay beefy. Solid, well thought out mounting points. Once everything is connected the whole rack is really stout.

I had the KLR650.com aluminum boxes mounted on them. Put several thousand miles on them with no loosening of the connection points or anything. I had them loaded up heavy too.

I would buy them again for any bike in a second. I like the way you can take off the rack and only leave the mounting tabs. Total functionality.

FYI, YMMV, IMHO, etc... But I like 'em.

I have a set on my Honda 919 and a set on my DL650
The mounts are great. They went on with out too much hassle and look ok
when the bag frames are off the bike.

The bag frames are well made. If a little over built and kind of heavy
They also stick out further from the bike then they should.
It seems like they could have tucked the bag mounts up closer.

Overall a good product (at least these two versions are)
    That's priced pretty good.

I didn't get the lock so I carry a pad lock to lock the frames to the bike when I take the bags inside for the night.

I like the idea of the removable bag frames, because I hardly ever run with side bags mounted to the bike. Really only when I'm traveling.

I wish the top box mount for the 919 was quick detach for this very reason.
But it's not. So the rack spoils the lines a little but the function makes up for it.

    Hope this helps

    Oh and one more thing
Twisted Throttle was great to work with.

Installed a set of SW Motech racks (and panniers) on my 08 KLR last week. Perfect fit and looks good too. It only takes 30 sec to take them of and refit them with the quick lock system. The seem to be quite tough. I would however prefer them to bend or break before damage gets done to the subframe in case of an accident.

I have a set on my DL1000. As the others have said, these things are not flimsy. I'd buy them again in a second.

Very stout, several low-speed drops made a mess of my luggage but the racks are still perfect.

Just put a set on my F650GS and they are great. They are solid, look good, and can take a beating. I highly recommend them!!:D

Had em on my Triumph Sprint. Worked very well and looked good. Didn't lay it on it's side, though.

Do you guys have the evo style or the original. They only make the original style for model A KLR's (pre-'08)

    and they look like this:

Just curious, because look at the way it is tied into the rear fender. It just looks weak.

I have the classics on both bikes
The rear connection is not weak. It doesn't really have to be
it just needs to keep the bags from flexing and supports them when the bike ends up on them.
I wouldn't even think twice about that part.
My one issue on the 919 is the bracket the moves the turnsignals
It's thin and flexi I don't expect it to last as long as the rest fo the bike.
But the 919 shouldn't see any super rough roads.

Stop worrying, they're stout as hell. The rack isn't using the rear fender for strength. The load is carried through the steel bar between the racks. The only reason that bar is bolted to the fender is to hold it in place when the racks are removed.

Have them on my dl650. With my pelicans 1550 mounted the setup is not wider then the bar ends :eek1

    Couldn't be happier :thumb

Can anyone share their experience with crash testing the Quick Release male and female connections on the current style racks?

Do the connectors rip apart too easily in minor get-offs, or do they hold fast?
