2-Stroke Picture Thread

Looked for a similar thread but didn't find one. Post pictures of your older 2-Stroke "adventure" bikes. Dirt or street doesn't really matter. Here's my 79 RD400 and my buddies 74 H2 on the Cherohala.

Here's my current winter project: refreshing two Yamaha IT465s. They have been sitting for a long time, have mouse nests in the airboxes. The petcocks and carbs were solid with fuel molasses.

I am also using a framesprung engine-locked parts bike.

I really need to get them running and give you some proper shots of them on the trail. Lots of work to do before then.

Those IT's are awsome. I had a 175 as a kid and loved it. Rode it during summer months on the snow mobile trails north of Montreal. What a blast that was. That 465 must be a freaking BEAST!

Haven't ridden any of them yet, but their reputation is that they aren't for the beginner nor faint of heart.

I might have to start a thread on this project.

Any idea on what crank phasing they/he used on this Maico ?
Whoever did it ,did a neat job .
I can just imagine trying to kick start that on the second day of a two day enduro .I can hear my mates asking "Where have you Bing all day ?"

Great bikes!!! Still have my 78 IT175 that I bought new and have pictured before (not this thread).

Thought I would go for a change of pace and recently picked up this pup, a complete 1967 Kawasaki 250cc A1SS with 6.8K on the clock. Amazingly this rascal is, despite the external rust, in real good mechanical shape. The tank internals are perfect as is the engine (almost).

Will require the normal elbow grease and some parts to recover some of it's original cosmetic appearance but I'm looking to turn it into a near original runner as opposed to a museum piece. Currently torn down for rehab and so far, so good.

I picked this one up from CL. I have been rounding up parts and cleaning it since. It is in pretty good shape for it's age. I just ordered a bunch of needed parts, and dropped the cylinder off for boring. It's needed a bunch of TLC, but I paid less than you might for a used mountain bike (I sold a set of golf clubs to pay for it). It's a '74 Suzuki TC185 (actually a 183, but with a 1mm overbore it'll really be a 185). It has a dual range 5 speed transmission. I need to find a petcock, and a left side passenger footpeg, but other than that it's pretty complete.

I fabbed up a rack for it a month ago or so.


Since the first picture Ive gotten all the lights, a mirror, sprocket cover, airbox, and some electrical stuff fixed.

Gone now, always an adventure. In more ways than one.
