Anyone have suggestions for a bit more off road capability for my 12x6 cargo trailer? Not looking to conquer the offroad world but don't want to drag or leave parts:D

    Larger wheels? lift kit?

    Looks like this

If it has leaf springs do a spring over axle flip.

Do you just need more clearance? Larger tires help, I have 31" tires (traded a set of 4 bald 33x9.5 BFG AT's for 2 like new 31"s on jeep rims) and an 8" lift on my 6x10 and drag it all over the desert and forest. It was tall enough when it had 4" of lift (just a spring over) but with 8" it has the same clearance as the tow vehicle.) Depending how fast you care to go while pulling your trailer in the dirt, you may want to look into some suspension upgrades. I've pretty much rattled my leaf spring bushings/hangers/hardware to death driving at 15mph on rocky/bumpy forest roads. If the trailer is taking a beating, so are its contents. I have a set of jeep leaf springs and a pair of shocks waiting to go on when I feel like welding on the new spring hangers.

I'd just start with a spring over, it will cost you about $15 for a pair of new spring perches and they are easy enough to weld on. It is generally frowned upon to just "flip" the axle and use the existing perches because the axle tubes are actually preloaded (bent upwards in the center) so if you flip it, your tires will have a slight negative camber... I'm currently running a drop axle upside down (8" lift without a spring over and 4" more clearance under the tube vs. a straight axle) but most people seem to believe that my trailer is going to spontaneously explode because of it.

This is free and easy if you have leaf springs. And you can add a little larger tire to help as well.

That sounds like a great place to start, thanks for the suggestion.

Bought the Cargo Trailer already converted, adding my own touches along the way. Put a RV door latch in.

Time Outs are very popular campers with the Gold Wingy crowd.

yeah, for an FJR that would be a bit too much, but your Forester would have no problem with it at all.

We have a Kwik-Kamp, and not only do we pull it behind the Harley, but we also drag it around behind our Toaster car. (Scion XB) :deal

We just picked up this little off road trailer to haul our camp gear. A small shop in Prescott AZ puts them together. It's basically a high strength marine grade aluminum tool box mounted on a custom made trailer frame and independent trailing arm axle-less suspension from Timbren. I had a 50L water tank mounted inside. Hauling all our gear in the Tacoma was getting a little crowded. And I had the trailer hubs and wheel sized matched up to the Tacoma.

Followed a click bait link off of that big evil Face thing... of course they have dozens of their own slow loading ads-- but no mention of the company's name. :bluduh

Google to the Rescue--- Cool stuff. (I haven't dared to look at the pricing.)
