If it was red ground it was the canyon north of Calico you're referring to. If it was boulders and snow it was Red Rock in Nevada.

Thanks for posting this. At about 6:45, I remember this exact location. It reminded me of a time me and my cousin were riding a Honda minibike (30 years ago) in Kingman, AZ. It felt like the exact type of terrain, weather, temp etc. I felt like a little kid again, except on a big ass 990s. Thanks again for posting this video.

50% of my enjoyment of this ride was the scenery alone. I absolutely love the Desert. I never could have imagined that it is so similar to how it is portrayed in movies and westerns.

Excellent ride! Thanks D37, especially Corrine and Keith!

Jeanne and I had a great time, did the easy routes, enjoyed the Mojave.

On day 2 we were early birds at Red Rock and turned around at the word of ice. You can see we gave it a try in the vid (click the image), but decided not to beat the 690s to a pulp. We still flogged them pretty good on some of the power line roads and washes :evil (except the tortoise zone of course!)

Thanks again, great to meet many of you.

Yes, we're talking about some future trips to Palmdale for Thanksgiving!

My daughter gave me a GREAT Christmas present this year, downloaded the Grumpy's photo from this year's ride and printed and framed it for me.

Maybe I should go back to riding the GSA, this little 525 makes my ass look big.

Hey guys - Say some fellas wanted to do this ride without all the organization and support. How difficult / terrible an idea would that be?

    Are you riding borrowed tracks?
The entire route is not always open for public use. Shouldn't be a big deal, but be prepared to work/ride around.
Why not just give it a go with your own route and make it an adventure?

Other than Red Rocks what's not normally open? We ended up riding a big part of the Barstow to Vegas route in reverse a couple of days before the start by accident. I'd like to get out there and spend a week just knocking around, maybe run the Death Valley routes a Husky riding sweep shared in 2012.

This was my 2nd year LAB2V and this was great to reride the area again. Great job on video and sound effects were perfectly timed. I also like the way you left it as either riding sound, wind or nothing at all. Nothing worse than listening to some noise while trying to enjoy scenery. Great job again.

It depends on what year of the route you're talking about. Each year is different. For instance, the year it went through Rowher Flats, there might have been a gate or two that were opened up just for the riders of LA-B-to-V and then closed the evening of the ride. In 2005, the year the route went from Bert's in Covina over the Angeles Forest to the desert, the gate to the start of the Angeles Forest was opened that day just for the riders of LA-B-to-V. It was closed hours later. That's an example of what John Gil is referring to.

There are also some sections of the route around Ridgecrest that we have received special permission to travel, yet they are now closed with signs for riding. That's another example.
