I lucked for my first GS 1200 and found one used for good price. It is manufactured 24.03.2009. ,have low milage and is imported from UK. From pictures in advert I relise that it has camhead engine. Is it possible for bike made in 2009 or engine is replaced for some kind of reasons? Or may be it is better to forget this bike?
Welcome to the forum. I'm not really sure what you are asking and I assume that English is not your native tongue. So with that being said... It would be unusual but not unheard of for a 2009 GS to have had it's engine replaced. If you suspect that it has been replaced then I would just move on to the the next bike. There are too many clean late model GS's out there to get one with a questionable history. Good luck. Oh, and fill out your profile dammit.
The build date and the model year are often not the same. The UK often has them out earlier than the US. That said, a UK bike might be a bad idea. The speedo is in Kms, and the headlight is designed for right hand drive roads. Jim

Well, the signature says he is from Latvia. That is in the Baltics. They drive on the right side. UK drives on the left.
I think that all of Europe except for the U.K. measures speed & distance kms. In fact Britain and the U.S. may be the last holdouts in the rest of the world.
Hi, I live in Lithuania, which is a neighbor country to Latvia. It is quite popular down here to import used bikes from UK. Most of them are "lemons". So my replay to original question is: just forget it! As someone else has mentioned above, the first problem is headlight which needs to be replaced in order to pass technical inspection. That's pretty good amount of $$$ or (your choice ) . You better search the german ebay or mobile.de for a good bike. G.
When were camheads first manufactured? I have one of the first to arrive in Oz in February 2010, if not the first and it was manufactured from memory in October/November 2009. (In fact I had a huge blarney with the dealer over a "2010" GSA whose compliance plate clearly stated it was a 2010 model but the registration papers showed it was manufactured in 2009 - that was when the VIN number was allocated.) The OP has the date of manufacture 24th March 2009 - correct me if I am wrong but that seems real early. Too early. Something is sussed (not right). viz

Didn't Top Gear do a piece on Baltic countries? All the cars that they looked at that came from the UK (ie right hand drive) were stolen from the UK and shipped to the Baltic countries to be sold cheap. You'd have to assume that the bikes got there the same way. For you guys who think that the UK measures speed in kph, still uses Whitworth size spanners and uses the Euro - you need to get out more! Take a motorcycle trip to the UK - it is motorcycle heaven.
A lot of used UK bikes get exported to Europe, not just lemons! The pound/euro exchange rate makes it attractive. My local dealer has a Belgian buyer who comes over every couple of weeks and buys the used stock.
