    No, not worth $8K IMHO

KBB is not valid for very low volume sales items such as airheads... it's better for things like 2009 VW's and the like. Typically they solicit information from dealers and how many data points do you think they get annually from dealers on R100GS's, maybe two or three?

KBB also says an R80G/S in excellent condition is worth $3,480... how many can I buy at this price ? :lol3

California dealer and touratech decals, what a steal.....no F'n way. Seems like the dealer got a ratty one and had to do a bunch of stuff to it.

See, that is why I don't think 8k to start is way too high for this one. In some instances KBB is full of sand.

Obviously they are trying to recoup their investment in the parts and labor. I say it aint gonna sell for that but here it may. We ARE right down the road from Santa Fe.

I wouldn't pay it, and I don't like the idea of a 1991 motorcycle being advertised as "fully restored"!!! makes me feel very old!!!
any bike from 1991 simply needs "freshened up".

    I'd pay $3480 for Solo's G/S but don't think he'd do it.

Why would you pull the gearbox, change the seals and do the circlip mod and not change the bearings or the selector springs?

At that sort of mileage it would almost certainly need exhaust valve guides and probably exhaust valves as well as having the seats recut!

It's probably worth about half the asking price..........particularly in that colour scheme!

Its worth $8k if somebody pays that for it. The market always determines the value. The seller only determines the asking price and what he will part with something for. Greed doesn't enter this picture.:D

    That's a borderline WTF.

    - "CYLINDERS HONED" - honed Nikasil cylinders? at 65K miles? why?
    - "NEW CYLINDER BASE GASKETS" - why the heck did they install cylinder base gaskets? Reduce compression? Reduce performance? They're idjits? Why?
    - "NEW OIL FILTER AND 20W50" - for this price oil changes should be free for the next 20K miles
    - "TOURATECH" DECALS - deduct $1K off the top

Geeze, the old multi-line dealer ship in Abq (15 years ago) was more on top of airheads than this place seems to be.

I'd be much more inclined to buy this one at $4,900:
