SR 715 that crosses Mohawk Dam is closed due to HIGH Water (no boulders). It's a unusual view from the dam itself if you've never seen the river backed up. A major lake. At least it happened before the farmer planted it one hopes. Some ancillary roads are flooded too - I know- big word from a dirt biker. The gravel roads have been graded and are loosey-goosey. And not dusty for a change.

13 Harleys parked at Peggy Sue's today -
Watch out for the wet spot(s).

So, anyone who's done an out of state fly and ride, what's the easiest way to deal with the tag situation? Can I get a temp tag from the Ohio BMV with just the vin #? Or get a temp tag from the state where the bike is? Or what?

Bike is in Boston, MA, if that makes any difference:

When I bought the Vstrom in MD. I called the Ohio BMV and they were no help. She said I could not ride the bike home I would have to trailer it home. The PO was real cool and let us use his plate to ride home on. That was also a mess the bike was in MD and the PO had a MD address but titled in Washington state and Washington titles do not need notarized and it was a salvage title. When I went to the title place I almost got a non salvage title but the computer was smarter then the lady putting the info it and caught it.
I bought a truck in PA one time and the Seller and I went to like a corner store that had a BMV in it and I got a temp tag. Good thing since I got pulled over on the way home.

I purchased in AZ and before leaving OH had found reference to a temp tag that could purchased from the state of AZ. Made the deal, rode the bike to the BMV, gave 'em the money, and road home with piece of mind. Firmly believe it got me off with a verbal warning for trying to get out of Texas a bit too fast for their liking.

Ohio gives you 30 days to transfer a plate. As long as you have the valid plate from the old bike, a properly signed title, insurance for the new bike, and the registration that the plate came from. Been pulled over twice so far in that configuration, once in Ohio and once in PA. Both with the same car actually, a Lincoln Town car running plates from a Ford Ranger.

So just pull a plate off a bike, grab the registration, and go for it.

Was looking for an old post to help Sion with his purchase, but stumbled on the above gem from Dox.

I hadn't really been a fan of this method of Gin consumption until I found a local distillery, Watershed, with a very tasty specimen. Only gin I'll drink straight.

Shaun, just put the plate from your liquid hot burning Magna on the new bike. No LE really care, you can easily explain the situation and the ORC gives you 30 days to transfer, so you'd be covered.

Yup, if you have a spare plate with a valid sticker, just use it.

So... I just sold my house. Good news right? Well, Someone came along and also bought the current house we live in as well. (money talks right?) So I'm working on storing stuff but really just need to get rid of things. The new owners are only giving us 7 days to move out, so no time for a yard sale. I've got a few things that I have been holding onto for no real reason. So.. I'm posting here before I do craigslist.. mainly because I hate selling shit on CL. But I'll make this short.

I have a really nice 40" Sharp LED TV. 1080 HDMI inputs and all that Jazz. I think it is 3 years old. Would like to get $250 for it..

I also have been dragging around a 72 Honda CL350, with a modified frame, and a 07 GSXR front end. It is currently in pieces. Motor is still one until, but there is a valve guide that needs replaced. I have all the original parts.. and a few more. I also have a title for it too... I'm willing to let it go for $500... The GSXR front end was like 400 bucks a year or two ago.. and it can still be converted back to the stocker as well. I can send pics, but only over email or text.

Sorry, to dump this here... but time is not on my side. Call or text, 740.sixtwo4.three9five6
    Everything is located in Zanesville
    Thanks

Well I was at the bank grabbing some cash for the ride down to Danville and I noticed that the bike was squirrely. Yep a flat. I didn't have time to fix this and make it down to Danville so I headed back to the house and grabbed the Vstrom. We all met at the BP. Gonzo led off and after a couple of wet, slippery sections I'd had my fill. That bike is just too big to have any kind of fun in conditions like that. Besides I didn't want them to have to wait for me all day (yea, that's the ticket) So I split off and rode some the back roads.
I went passed a carload of kids that had just run into a telephone pole. They were all pretty shook up. I offered to help but the adult there (a resident, I guess) had it under control and passed on my assistance.

Is the GSXR front from a 1000 or a 600/750?

It's been so long I don't remember. The forks are gold in color, so I think that rules out the 750.. I'm thinking they're from a 600.

Kick ass ride today. Weather was perfect, 28 was a blast, found a new trail in the Damn area that was the high light of the ride, just over 200 miles, crossed a closed bridge that I have never crossed before, and the pie was good. No pictures but I think Matt took some.
