Thought you might like this ... The first time I put the DRZ400 forks on the girl. They are not set properly, and the rear shock is not set either. But definitely 'chopper-esque'.

OK, on a more serious note, since I got a laugh out of the old girl this way I am hopefully on to bigger and better things. This evening I should be able to disassemble the front end and get the lower triple out of the way. It's all loose, should the thing just come right apart or will it take some persuading?
Lower triple/stem will come out easily; the stem slips out of the upper bearing inner-race, may take a bit of tapping with a mallet. The lower bearing races take some work to remove as does the upper outer bearing race. Woodly - Thanks for that ... Here's the Dobber now ... she's fully mission capable, and I've put about 300 miles on her on dirt trails and such ... She's been huge fun and she's beeing added to constantly. I have someone milling a rear hub (for a rear spoked wheel), and two new extended shafts coming. I'm thinking white fenders to go with the old G/S tank that an inmate sent me. Either way ... she's down to a bit over 380 pounds, 9 and 7 inches of travel front and back, 1000cc's full of chaos. Sooo much fun. I can't wait to see what you do with yours.
White fenders will look SWEET! And I can only imagine the chaos Mine will not be nearly as "fun" but it is an ALL original toaster so I am just going to freshen her up and put it back the way it come from the factory. She will most certainly be a rider though...can't wait to get her back out on the road again this coming spring. I will add photos as I go for sure
Woodly I have the same poster next to my computer. The artist Roland Davies was commissioned by our Transport Dept to produce some road safety posters in the 1950s I believe and ours is one of them. Paul
