Lets say around 400cc+ any year make and model.

What do you ride? Where do you ride it? What have you done to it? And the big question: Why do you need all that power?! :eek1

    Here's my 1984 Honda CR500R.

Motor: 520cc (91mm) bore. Porting and head work by Eric Gorr. Lowered compression with major reshaping of the squish band. Decompression valve. Keihin PWK 39.5mm Air Striker. lightyears better than the stock time bomb/ping-king.

Suspension: Re-sprung with Pro-Action valving with 87 CR cartridge forks. Lightyears better than the stock pogo sticks.

Misc: Billet clamps, Scotts damper, Clarke 4.0 gal tank. classic gold wheels.

There is no sound on earth more captivating than a big bore finner at wide open throttle--can't get enough!

I use it for everything from single track to hillclimbs.

As for why, climbing takes lots of HP, and the cr is cheaper than the my bigger ktms to maintain/build.

This is the bike I have been working on:

    It's a 1976 YZ400:

Put the bike back together and have ridden it out in the desert. But have pulled the motor out again, going to rebuild the motor.

I built this '70 CZ 360 sidepipe to race in the vintage races at Hollister Hills. It's on the first piston for a '73 CZ 400, so its no longer a 360. Last month I smoked a couple of young guys on 450F's on the HH TT track. They thought I was just a fast old guy, but they don't understand how much better the lower CG bikes turn. I've trail ridden a few times and the power of the old air hammer is impressive.

Great looking bikes everyone. I've said it before but I love that blue/yellow Maico dynodave. You don't see those very often--if ever in the states :bmwrider

Thanks Rot Box. I traded the `94 320 for an `81 GS490 in need of a full resto.

Check these out. All big bores and all sold some time ago, along with some others. I had them all at the same time and could not get into my shop:

I'm not a Maico connoisseur by any stretch but I do know that GS490 is a very rare bird. Sounds like you made a good deal :deal

    Very nice bikes/pics btw!

Yamaha IT490. I had a few heroic get offs on that bike, I was not a very good rider in my teens, lol. I also recall it pinging and snorting more than my old 175.
