DNS myself. Clutch went wonky the day before in the poker run. I have an unfinished bucket list item now and have to come back next year.

19 miles on a KTM 690? Oy! I guess I have some serious prep work to do....

Thanks for babysitting this n00b out there on the Poker Run IgnacioB, you and the other dual-sport riders we tented with this weekend were the highlight of a fantastic weekend!

Nice to meet you too! If you look at my video you'll see one of our other riders from camp, Jeff, at the 3:10 mark drop it to avoid plowing over the youngster on the smallish bike (that then seems to get frustrated and throws it down at 3:30).

Once Jeff gets back up you see the yellow Tenere come more into frame at the 3:45 mark.

And I see Jeff from your video at the 3:27 mark from the other angle. Nice!

Some seriously high drama happened in those first 4 minutes.

i see myself at 3:50 bringing up the rear rear after dumping the beast!!! i guess i did dump it in part of not landing on some defensless kid at the top with a combined weight of almost 900lbs. I thought for sure I got there ankle at the very least.

Finished! Had a few front end washouts but no major get-offs. Lost a hand guard bolt around race mile 30, broke the end off my clutch lever, broke a rear turn signal......but what an amazingly fun race.

Waiting to see how I did once online results are posted. Once I got back I slammed a few beers, loaded up camp and my buddy and I headed for home (he drove). Unfortunately, didn't get to watch the trophy presentation.

Good job on that one...you did the right thing. :)

Check the 3:30 mark on mine and you see the kid purposely throw the bike down!

DNF for me around the 13 mile mark, just past the trestle. Electrical issues of some sort. Awesome times and great memories for sure. Many thanks to all who stopped by our little encampment.

Well what a year this D100 turned out to be!

I raced Sunday in the adventure class on the shop KTM Super Enduro and had a fantastic time! Ended up going through the end of the bomb run in the top 20, but at around mile 7 a branch decided to break my fuel line tee (connects right and left petcocks and fuel pump) dumping about a gallon of fuel out of the tank. I tried fixing it with what I had on the bike with no such luck, thought my race was over, took off my race numbers, helmet, fuel covered gloves etc. and was standing on the trail watching all the other racers pass by.
Unfortunately a racer happened to crash somewhat close to where I was, so I helped him and his bike off the course, he was banged up and seeing stars but nothing too serious. I was able to rob his fuel vent line and jury rig a solution to the broken fuel tee, though this left me with the left side petcock only fueling the bike. Every 4-6 miles I had to lay the bike down and lift the wheels to get the fuel back to the left side of the tank from the right side that was no longer open. I was BACK IN THE RACE after close to 20 min!
I ended up catching and passing everyone that had passed me while I was out with bike issues, and didn't know it but was leading the adventure class from check 2 to check 4 as Darryl from Cyclops Adventuresports had DNF'd due to a flat rear tire. I was feeling great and kept a strong pace having a blast riding a fun course!
Right before check 4 I noticed a rubbing noise in my front wheel upon fork compression, stopped to check it out and my Safari Tank support brace had been bent to the point that any time the front wheel compressed more than a few inches the back of the tire was grabbing it.
Once again I pulled all my tools and tried getting the brace off with no such luck, the Stumpjumpers came around and tried giving me a hand but the bolts were mangled to the point they could not be extracted on the trail. I ended up riding around 3 miles and hour to the next check and called it quits at that point.
All in all ended up having a great time, and would like to congratulate the winners of the Adventure class as they all rode great!
I would also like to give props to rider Jeff H. on his Yamaha Super Tenere, he raced for his first time ever, as well this was his first time riding off road. He gave it his all, had a great time, and a big smile at the end of the race!
Thank you to the Stumpjumpers for a fun course, and cant wait to do it again!

I'm the sweep rider that gave you grief for not packing tools.

Don't feel bad about only making it 19 miles, there were lots of folks that didn't make it that far. However, if you had a few basic tools and some simple McGiver skillz you could have finished the loop.

All racers need to know how to work on their bikes and pack at least a rudimentary set of tools.

Better luck next year.

Edit: I made my post before I saw what Alex wrote above - You guys should all be as prepared. If nothing else, it makes a MUCH better story.

Point taken: my tool kit was too small. I wanted to pack light for the race so I took my normal tool kit off and striped it down to what I figured were the bare essentials. This was my first desert 100 (first race of any kind), so anyway, lesson learned.

I ran the dual sport poker run on my DRZ400 with wbedient. It fell over a couple times and I rolled down a hill, but I had fox body armor and didn't get scraped up; I'm just sore. I'm fairly new to riding and I had fun! Gotta get some more gear and do some more riding now.

I go by at 2:14. The course was totally doable I just got wrapped up in trying to ride fast and race when I should have been focused on just getting a decent finish. I'll post up some go pro footage with the highlights (biffing it) in a couple days. Right after that burm I was riding pretty hard to try to keep up with a KTM 990 or 950.

All I know is the bike was black and the rider was fast.

Congrats on joining the 12%! It was great riding with you on Saturday's Poker Run and hats off for tackling the D100!

THANKS ALEX W KONFLICT MOTORSPORTS for the Kudos on my attempt at such a task. I did make it to MM 17, where I just knew if I was to go any further I was to damage more than just pride.
i broke nothing on the bike at all, it took a beating and still didn't break. My left thumb got bent a bit on the first hill avoiding the kid. After further review from an X-Ray it isn't broke either, but only a good sprain. It is still pretty swollen.

I had a great time riding on saturday on the B loup and what I thought was the Dual-Sport Loup turned out I was riding on the Ironman ride. We did this for 15 or so miles to the Hotdog stand where we turned towards Odessa and looped around for the B route DS ride.
I can give tons of credit to Moto-X boots as I didn't have any when I left my house for the weekend event. I stopped in Moses Lake and tried a pair on, they fit, asked for a few bucks off and got them. I think the $200 bones saved a broken foot of some sort when a rock decided to squeeze what it could of my foot between the foot peg. No swelling, only small bruises on top of foot. I never thought it was that important or I needed them. That was until this weekend of soot, rocks and weed!!!!

Great to meet some new faces.

I see a yellow freightliner coming over the top . . . oops, can't run over that little kid . . . I'll sacrifice all and put 'er down. Over all, looks like the biggest obstacle was DUST ! and squishy dirt. I even saw your camp rig in the lot behind the tan tent.

Made it less that 15 miles before I broke my bike (clutch slave), but had lot's of fun. It was my first race.....going through mile after mile of that stuff is sure different than doing a few sections at a time on a casual ride with lots of breaks....my arms are still sore!
Back again next year; maybe this will be the excuse I need to get a smaller bike to go with my current one.

Another DNF here

I crashed so many times on various hill climbs that by the time I got to checkpoint 2 I was so spent from wrestling the 990 around (and out of water) that I called it a day. What an awesome experience though! Congratulations to all finishers and the winners!

I also want to give a shout out to Jeff for trying to help out Kelds in the middle of a rocky hill when her bike broke down, trying to push it up the hill. Jeff and I rode together for a bit on Saturday and it was nice to link up with a familiar face for a bit. Huge props for rocking the Super Ten out there.

I'll be coming back for my finisher's shirt. Just maybe on a smaller bike... And with a bit more practice climbing boulders.

Yup....definitely appreciated! Same with the sweep rider that helped getting off a rocky ledge prior to Jeff helping me out.
