Riding out to Calgary from CT next summer. Calgary seems a likely place to tool up before beginning a tour around Alberta than heading through BC and ending the trip in Portland, OR.

I see Banff Jasper Icefields Parkway all look pretty sweet. I want to see Victoria as well.

I am looking advice from anyone that's done western Canada about where to sleep eat ride!

We went through BC bottom to top and northern Alberta on the way back through on our way to the Arctic, if you are good on gravel you can't miss the Stuart Cassiar highway and best ride in BC is going on gravel to telegraph creek, epic on any continent. Campgounds we likes were the one at Kitwanga at the where the yellowhead meets the Stuart Cassiar highway and Jade city has free camping next to the jade store and good people there. Plain setup but good people and free.

video of the trip for a primer.

I enjoyed your video and I get it when you said folks consistently gave you the distance to a destination in time vs kilometers....so true when we were touring around Atlantic Canada

I got a loop that looks like Calgary-Prince Rupert-Vancouver Island-Victoria BC -Seattle WA -Portland OR which might be enough for me and the time I have.

Riding from CT to Calgary could be its own adventure so I am wondering how to get the bike to Calgary. Than I fly out and meet the bike.

    A thread on BC eateries.

One of my favorite small cities is Nelson BC. Lots of walk-a-bout shopping, tea shops, ice cream parlors.
Toad Rock campground a few miles north of Nelson...with showers, laundry.
Really good riding in this area. Google Selkirk Loop.

Hwy 3, near the border, is nice scenic road east and west...mountains, ranch lands and small towns.

Where are you actually starting from? It might be simpler to fly to Great Falls Montana, pick up the bike there and then drive the bike through the border. Sorry not really aware of where CT is!!!!

    CT is Connecticut USA

It looks like shipping the bike from Montreal to Calgary is easy to arrange (just throw down enough money ha-ha)

But after some more thought I might just ride the bike to Calgary.

Shipping is cheaper & easier in the States. I would ship it either to Great Falls or Missoula, Montana. Then you can take the Road to the Sun Hwy. north to Alberta.

Dry and sunny. Highs of 70-85, lows in the 60's. Summer starts here mid-June until mid-Oct. Kids are out of school in Canada from end of June 'til Sept.1st so that's when everyone is on vacation. Campsites are usually full by 4 ish.
