I'm headed to Vegas for an - ahem - bachelor party in mid-April. Seems like a great excuse to go out early and rent a bike for a couple days, so I'm renting a R2100GS from a Wednesday morning to a Friday afternoon, leaving from LV.

Where should I go for two days and two nights around the area? Hoover Dam, sure, but what else? I want to see as much of southern NV and the environs as possible.

Where should I spend the night? Where should I eat? Where should I drink?

I can't do much off-road stuff due to the rental-bike aspect, but some short dirt roads should be OK.

Lots of choice's. Death Valley will be the most popular answer. You are only 2-2.5 hours from Zion NP, and right up Hwy 89 is Bryce NP.

In the Vegas area make sure you check out Red Rock Canyon and a quick run up to Valley of Fire. The drive along Lake Mead is very visual on your way to Hoover. Make sure you park the bike and make the short walk up to the bypass bridge so you can look down on the Hoover Dam.

Great idea, there are many great riding locations nearby. I rented an F650GS from BMW of Las Vegas and had a blast riding in and around the Red Rock Canyon.

Here is a link to the ride report if you are interested:

I rode a ktm rc8 and my cousin rode a bmw for the day, last May. We checked out Hoover dam, and rode north, part way around Lake Mead and then Red Rock Canyon. I thought it was cool to ride the strip also. We rode 275 miles that day, and for me it was the highlight of the trip. I'm sure a local on here could direct you better though.[IMG]

You all are amazing...these suggestions are right up the alley of what I was looking for. I'm basically planning on arriving, renting, and riding - I don't want to sleep in Vegas until Friday night.

Poolman...I'll be renting from the same place, and the first page of your RR looks just right. Great photography...I'll get into the rest of it tomorrow. By the way, I'm your neighbor in Silver Spring. I cruise through Darnestown all the time, and reduced your deer population by one five years ago on Route 28 south.

Vegastele, thank you for the variety.

Bunny Ranch...good lord. I barely got permission for the moto-rental, let alone the bachelor party.

Thanks all...I'll certainly be posting the RR. I'll try to make it heavier on the photos than my other two (see the sig below).

Oh, and Jas123...those were exactly the photos I was hoping to see. Blue sky, brown stone, dark tarmac. Thanks for the taste.
