So... this battery is not much smaller than the OEM? I thought that was part of the benefit of the lithium batteries?

Hey Aaron.... It is a benefit of some, but the weight savings is the main benefit. Some riders are all into the tiny battery or battery relocation, which is good for more engineering minded riders, but I found most don't want to think about the battery much. That's why the built-in BMS is what I think will be the standard. Lots of riders have tried the lithium and were surprised they didn't last due to parasitic drain or over/undercharge. The plug-n-play seem to be a better way to go.

I still have some ultra-tiny ones, but really only good for the little dirtbikes or small streetbikes without any HIDs or heated gear.

For some reason I think I am on borrowed time with my non-balanced, never charged in any special sort of way, 3 year old lithium battery...

Read some more on your product.

ETX18C and ETX36C should have the same size, though the ETX36C packs the double punch? To make i simple(so i get it), i could drop in the ETX36C instead of the ETX18C vvithout a glitch?

    Best regards

Yes. The A series is for the little bikes (450s and under) the B series is for many mid sized ones and the C series for larger bikes.

So the dimensions of each series should be the same.

Where is there a reference to a 36C?

Your site only shows batteries up to 24C and what's the difference between the two?

What is the largest of the batteries that would fit a 2012 990R?

We have the ETX24Cs in stock. IMHO the 36 is overkill. My riding buddies are having no issues with the EXT18C Battery

The ETX18C does work great, but for a few extra bucks the 24 is going to cover the HIDs . Can you switch them off when starting?

Yes, but no on the "any" charger you want. Especially an older one without a auto shutoff when max voltage is reached.

Can you elaborate on the function(s) of the built in battery management system? I checked the website but couldn't find any details. Thanks.

Its basically just a simple cell balance circuit board, placed inside the battery case. It does not have over/under charge protection, so you still need to use a "smart charger"

As usual, the manufacturer oversells them as "BMS" battery management system, but a true BMS would have the protection circuit.

Just an FYI, I have a few Earth X left in my shop, but I'm sourcing a new manufacturer. I've had excellent luck and 0 known issues with them, but they didn't like my ADV discount so I won't be buying anymore from them. A real BMS protected battery is my goal. It would justify a higher price because it would truly be "idiot proof"

The technology is still awesome, and my first shrink wrapped unit has lasted 4+ years.

Would be interested in a true BMS unit.

    Thanks for the detail!
