Here was my free camp spot that night.
There are lots of rest stops.
They are not meant for camping but I don't think anyone really minds

There was a view point to see this glacier.
But you had to use a toll road.
And this one had a kid collecting money.
It was $20 for the 3 miles up to the top.
Even the kid said it was expensive.
    Of course I didn't go

Amazing report! It took a while but I finally caught up. I hope you are feeling better. I know you don't plan on hitting the west coast of Africa but if that changes and you head towards Dakar, hit me up. We have a spare bedroom and plenty of beer.

This is a about a 50 miles section of road that is rated in the top ten roads in the world. And it deserves to be. But what do I know.
I still think Pato canyon is the best road in the world but it is all dirt so maybe that doesn't count

    Yes I am
I have some new plans which involve riding The Flying Dutchman from Italy to Tunisia then to Dakar to Morrocco back to Spain.
But it would be possible later next year. And depends on my money situation too.
    We can stay in touch

Does this mean the tunnel branched off in multiple directions or did it have them just to have them?

The longest one I know of, which is near your route though behind you now, is 27 kms.

Glad your starting to feel better!

    It was an interchange underground.
They had the same type of thing under downtown Oslo.
I was heading downtown and was about 5 miles away. And then the road dropped underground in a tunnel.
There were exits to take in the tunnel. I just didn't know which one to take because my GPS was not working in the tunnel. Finally, I decided I needed out to look at my GPS to see where in the heck I was at. It turned out I picked the right exit as I was only half a mile from my destination. Shear luck.

Yes, I think I know where it is. It was near the big waterfall. I figured it would have cost an arm and 3 legs to go thru it so I didn't. Plus it gets really cold in some of those tunnels. I saw one with a temperature drop of more than 20 degrees. And you would feel it in the first 5 seconds too.
But in the early morning when it was cold out still, the tunnels were warmers so I liked the tunnels then.

I am about half way in to my 800 days but I don't really know when I while stop. But after a night like last night, I was ready for it to be over.
But I am considering riding a Royal Enfield from India to Malaysia early next year. I hope we can stay in touch. I might need some help and have some questions for you.
