Looked for the thread, didn't find it, mods, feel free to merge it if I goofed up! Picked up a new to me 2002 1150 GS last night from GSingWI. It's got 60k miles and I am the 3rd owner. She is very well sorted out for an all-around adventure bike! Although she's not perfect (one of the bag mounts broke off and Pat fabricated a screw and nut to hold it on; the holes where the pipe's nameplate rivets had been removed had burned small holes through the left bag), overall for the mileage and use she is in A++ condition. The bike as she was originally for sale... with the Bagster and Tank Panniers on, solo Sargent set up and ready for adventure (Pat kept the Wolfman -- anyone want to sell me theirs?? ) Bagster off, to show how nice and clean the tank looks even with almost 60k on the clock. Picked it up last night. After turning over the funds and signing the bill of sale and title, I was ready to get on my new steed Helmet on, riding into the cool (and fortunately deer-less) western WI night .... and on the way home, as the odometer turns to 60k, a new adventure begins
Here is Der Panzer the day after i picked it up and rode it 400 miles to get it wisconsin, so i could ride another 608 the next day. Look how clean it is-- and only a simple tank bag. i bought it March 15th with 36,000. Here Der Panzer now. Just turned over 49,000 miles last night. of course, i've had three failures since i've owned it. one spark plug donut gasket, one leaky bushing around the valve cover bolt, and one valve stem. and before you rush to the defense of BMW, it was a BMW factory valve stem which let go.

my '04 adventure. turned 85k last week in the north carolina mountains---great bike. i nicknamed it the "big pig"
I'm new so I hope I'm not posting this question in the wrong place. I'm about to purchase an '00 GS1150, anything particular to this model I should look out for? It's got approx 43k miles. I promise I'll send a photo if I purchase it. Thanks!
El Martillo, Go to GS Spot FAQ, section 7.4 I recently bought an '01 1150 GS and had asked the same question. Bobby Sands thorough and extremely well thought-out response was moved to the FAQ section. It is the definitive work on the subject (no kidding). Hope that helps - they are GREAT bikes by the way.
The seat his made by "yves Moillot" in France I bought the bike already with this seat. For me it's not better than the original one, I prefered a lot the on piece adventure seat.
