I've got an sm610 and usually run about 15-20 psi (usually stay closer to 20) seems to ride great. I do lots of wheelies and a little off-roading on my avon distanzia tires.
Nice and Thanks for the reply. I think I will start in the low/mid 20's and see how it feels. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yea.. That's all I really do is get a feel. I like them aired up just enough that it doesn't feel squishy and flat in tight corners but I dont want them aired up too much so that I get more cushion for wheelies, jumps, stairs, ect. I'm sure the comfort zone will change depending on rider preferences and weight (I only weigh 120 lbs) good luck in you hooliganing and if your ever in the area hit me up to ride [emoji16]
Anyone use this chain guide? Is the 610 same as 510? http://www.tmdesignworks.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=936
In case anyone is curious, the head gaskets for the e-start 2006 te610 and the left-side-kick bikes are the same part number. Which is good, because good luck finding a head gasket listed anywhere for a 2006 te610 OEM part number: 8000 64726 Same deal for the base gasket, and looks like most of the other ones in the top end I could be bothered to check. Couldn't find any info on this, so now you have it.
I have their guides and slider blocks on all three of my modern Huskys, 10 TXC250, 08 TC450, 07 SM610. Slider blocks are the same. Guides have slight differences.
I run Pilot Road 3's on my SM610 at 38 front and rear with plenty of "feel." Less than that and the wear gets really hinky. 25/28 at the track.
It may have come unplugged. Pull the tank check the connection. If the main plug is ok pull the fuel pump its easy 6 bolts if I remember right. There's two wires going to the pump a hot and a neutral. The neutral came unplugged on my 09 leaving me stranded. Once I found it I crimped the wire lug to make it more snug on the female lug. Haven't had a problem since good luck.
Late reply but it was a wiring issue going to the fuse. Still don't know why my fuel light doesn't work but at least it runs again
Well, it finally happened. Snapped off my license plate and bracket/holder while riding in the Berkshire Trailrider's "Triple" ride a couple weekends back... Didn't know it happened until another rider happened to ride up behind me and noticed my plate was missing. He'd somehow seen it, upside down on the side of the trail a while back and pulled it out of his backpack --- NICE!!! Anyway, after the ride I zip-tied it to my rear rack and camping gear and rode 3+ hours home. Time to fix it for real... SO, suggestions for a good low-profile replacement??? BTW, I tried to search this thread already, with no luck... Thanks guys...
Oil change / Skid plate check... Ruht Roooh Evil rocks bit a hole in my 610 TEHyde Racing skid at the lower left stator cover...
Luckily these things are easy to repair with a few shaving off of the back of teh skid and a good hot soldering iron. ~ I used a big 325w 1950's weller mega pencil. Did not want to tarnish the tip of my good circuit board pencil. Took me just under an hour to melt the shaving in place and knead them into the original material. With a little more time effort / wax paper / sand paper I could have pressed the moldable plastic plastic smooth and then flashed it with a heat gun to give it a better finished look. And an inside picture
Just wanted to say what a bike the 610 is. Bought mine new in 09, and have rode the out of it. Its handles whatever I throw at it with ease. If you have one keep it. Its the last of its kind. Big thumper dual sports are a rare breed these days.
+1 I love mine and the only reason I'd get rid of it is if the chain punched a hole in the case and finished it off. (Case saver saved the case last time but I don't have an upper mount anymore.) I've eyeballed the new FE501's but when the street legal version comes out, it won't have as big of tank or the potential hp and I can't justify spending $10k and getting 1/2 the bike.
I have an 08 610 and am constantly amazed at what it will do...Like all "dual sports" it's a compromise. It will freeway almost as good as a KLR, and single track almost as good as say, a Husky or KTM 500. I have mine so farkled out that I have degraded it's dirt capabilities, plus I run 50/50 tires most of the time. But... there is no bike currently made that fills the same abilities as a 610. (as well as a 610). I have a new Husky 501s on order, and plan to keep the 610 for those long off road "tours" (TAT, Cabo, ect.) and keep the 501 as a pure off road bike that just happens to have a plate. We 610 owners are keepers of the pinnacle of the big single dual sport/do it all bikes. (IMHO) Lets hope some company decides that it is a category worth investing in again.
Another shot from Saline valley earlier this year. In the company of fancy KTMs, the Husky holds it's own!
Oh Yea, Red and White is the new Orange! (Love the Saline valley) Passing Kelso Dunes on the way to the AZ to do a Mojave Road loop ride.
I'm kind of past due on a sprocket change on my 610. Was wondering what brand yall recommend. I'm looking at a sunstar sprocket on fleabay for $42. Also probably need to change my chain if you have any recommendations. I am on a tight budget so I'm not trying to get the most expensive stuff but I know I don't need the cheapest stuff that's gonna break in the next hundred miles or less. Thanks for your input ahead of time.
