Been a few weeks, needed to get in a ride. Saw this thread and thought that might be a good target for us. http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=41480 So my son Kevin with his DR250se and my Bro-In-Law Rick on his KLR650 and me on the CX/DS met up at Linda's Fried Chicken in Watson La for Noon on Sunday. The plan was take all back roads to Red Bluff. Laid out a route on Mapsource thinking most of it would be dirt roads. (turns out most of it was paved). The gathering: Rick says it's hot! He was right, after about 1/2 hour into this ride if anybody would have suggested lets go back, I would have lead the way home. (in the end I'm glad we endured it - heat and all) I could have put the bike in the sun in the driveway, mounted a couple hair dryers on the bars (pointed at the rider) set on high heat, sat on it for 7 hours and got the same effect but saved the gas! Didnt take any many pics along the way there. We stopped to check the maps against the gps route and Rick suggested we take a break from the heat and the monkey butt - we were about 3 hours into it here when we found a church about 15 miles from Red Bluff. The lobby was air conditioned - Rick's back was sore - seen here doing the back stretch (on the Church Floor in the lobby) Finally got to Red Bluff: The view was pretty good. Well the excitement was over in about all of 10 min, so time to ride back. Gas stop along the ride back: The day's stats: The Spot tracks from the The Route: You my have to adjust the days to show the entire track. http://spotwalla.com/tripViewer.php?id=32bc4e19c33774b6c So ends a Sunday ride! .
There is always someone in the crowd that knows old bikes and does the double take when they see it -
now, if you were actually ridin los angeles to red bluff in northern ca. , that would be one hell of a ride..........
