Hey NNE riders - I'm heading up to Killington area next weekend and wanted to try something different other than going over to Quechee. Are there any moto or auto museums or cool dealers up in that general area?

Or any other type of place that's worth seeing?

Sadly I will be caging it, will have too many people in tow.

    Thanks

    Rhino

    Rhino, Hi!

Hemmings Motor News has a great car collection at their headquarters in Bennington, and it's free.

Billings Farm Museum is pretty interesting, and that's in Woodstock.

Bud Provin's shop, The Nickwackett Garage, is always interesting to stop in and see. Bud is a great guy, and extremely knowledgeable.

The American Precision Museum is very interesting and has lots of very cool collections. In the 1800's and 1900's the Connecticut Valley Region of Vermont was known to be one of the largest tool and die manufacturing regions in the world.

There's the Montshire Science Museum in Norwich

The Shelburne Museum has something for everyone. It never feels crowded on it's 45 acres. Check out the Horse Shoe Barn with all the carriages and tack.

Do you any of those interest you?

Do be aware that if the Marsh-Billings stuff is of interest, you'll want to hope the Congresscritters have gotten their act together—its a federal historic site and thus currently closed due to a lack of funding.

Of course, if the weather cools off any further, you may want to bring skis. :D

    Gotcha

And it doesn't snow in the East anymore.
    Some kind of warming trend.

As far as shutdowns go, hell if I was riding and planned to see a National park, I just ride around the barriers, but that's just me, I'm a loose canon at times.

Pics of the R100 GS? :deal

Always thought that would be a great bike. Is it a GS or a GSPD?

For what it's worth, I'm pretty sure that the Billings Farm is funded by the Rockefeller Trusts.

When I just looked at their website, in big bold letters it says that they are not affected by the government shut down.

    Take a look.

Rhino, how long are you going to be up here?

So it is. The farm is apparently across the street from the Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historic Park and under separate management, according to the Wikipedia article on Frederick H. Billings

    Kevin, (or anyone)

Any idea where that forest is, that they mention as the oldest forest in the country?

It sounds like it would be fun to explore.

    Rhino, Hi1

Well I was going to say that my barn is always an adventure to explore.

I think a few people could back that up.

Are you coming up for the wedding at Cascades?
