From what I've heard CIC 2013 will be a great time. Increased support for the campers and a chance of a big dinner / beer garden / party in the base lodge Saturday night are rumored to be in the works.

Hunter Mountain is the only ski area that I've ever heard of allowing the kind of access they grant us. If you ride a larger dual-sport this is your opportunity to try out your bike in as extreme as an environment you're comfortable with. If you ride a smaller dual sport Nick the Barber's rides are the stuff of legend and he gives a good tighten-up too.

There is also talk of a road rally or poker run of sorts for Saturday with prizes at the party Saturday night.

More to follow next week. If half of what I've heard comes to pass it will be the best CIC yet.

Dates are October 5-6 but I bet some good stuff will happen Friday too.

    I'm bushed.

I rode out to Hunter yesterday and met with Max and Mountain management this morning, then did some scouting and clearing of trails.

Nothing is official other than the dates and we'll be back but here's what we're working toward.

First, I have to say the management of Hunter is up for growing the event and making it more fun for the motorcyclists who show up, especially those that camp.

The details are very fluid but plans are in place for a great party and dinner Saturday night in the base lodge. There may also be a sponsored happy hour on Friday evening, also in the base lodge.

Max is working with Hunter to set up a GS Challenge course. Expect a sand trap, mud pit, logs, single track, teeter totter and more. This will be judged and scored with prizes being awarded Saturday night.

There will also be the guided rides to the top that folks have come to enjoy, plus we opened up some more terrain some of which is quite difficult. Personally I'd want a chance to assess skills before leading folks into this, it's gnarly and unlike the other routes it's not so easy for the sweep riders to just stop and help. Then there's the 90 degree downhill turn that if you miss you go offffffffff. :eek1 Hmm perhaps we won't be using that...

For the folks who might prefer a great day on a firmer surface we're working with the same folks that put on the Minuteman 1000 and the Nutmeg 400 to offer the Van Winkle 300. This will be an 8hr scavenger hunt modeled along the lines of the Iron Butt Rally. The start will be Saturday morning with the finish by 4pm.

Prizes for the Van Winkle 300 will be awarded at the party Saturday night.

Sunday will be open with guided rides to the summit in the morning and there are plans for demo rides both days.

That's it for now. This all happens the weekend of October 5.

IN again this year. last year was a blast, better than the prior two years.

Now with the descriptions you make me want to trailer the 250 :lol3 even though I'll probably ride the 650 instead.

I went to one CIC event a few years ago. It was a lot of fun. I'll try to make this one. My work schedule could foul things up, but I'll give it a go.

Man this looks like an awesome time, if only I had an off road capable bike. Hunter is only 1/2 hour from me too.
