G'day, welcome to the ACT ADVriders thread.

IF you are new/unfamiliar to Canberra and its surrounds, this is the place to contact like minded motorcycle adventure enthusiasts.

Post articles/links/photos etc of interest to anybody living in/visiting the ACT.

Don't underestimate the riding opportunities on offer here.
    Nor the climatic extremes...
Nor the stupidity on display by cage drivers....

Howdy Baz, I'm also an accursed shift worker. Currently on my second day of 4 days on (then 4 off). 2 x days, 2 x nights, then a 4 day break, but the first day off I finish at 07:15 so that day is a write-off. Are your shifts similar or in synch?

Yo yo with extra yo on the side.

Me and another guy here, Drewus are Canberra locals and we would be up for rides. We are still fairly new at the dirt game, but we both agree we have thrown our bikes and bodies at things well above our level so far (whether that was a good thing or not, hard to say!).

Looking forward to daylight savings and moving onto non-core hours at my new gov. job so I can nick out early during the week if I want.

New to Canberra, (away from the homeland for 3 months now), and new to dirt riding on my far too shiny DRZ400E. Decided to ride out to Doctors Flat Road this morning, between Uriarra and Wee Jasper, and had a blast but didn't go too far as I was on my own and just out to do a bit of recon. A work colleague suggested this route http://www.exploroz.com/TrekNotes/ACT/Brindabella_National_Park.aspx as a reasonably easy ride for a dirt noob. I'd be up for a few rides if anyone is interested in exploring a few local routes. :D

Hi Pommy :wave. Your mate has a bit of a sense of humour methinks. It's a good ride he set out, but there are at least a couple of steep hills at the Goodradigbe river at Flea Creek (Webb's Ridge Rd/Gentle Annie Fire Trail) that are OK for noobs if they are maintained, but could be "challenging" if they are cut up and washed out. They tend to be well maintained since the 2003 bushfires (nothing like a complete disaster to highlight poor track maintenance eh) but I haven't bee up there for yonks, so can't vouch for their condition, Gentle Annie used to be a real "hard enduro" hill climb that could be very badly chopped out. Are you a "weekends" rider ?

Hey there GodSilla, I'm currently using the bike as my main transport so racking up some K's but mainly tarmac during the week and starting to get dirty at the weekends. Took a couple of excursions off the main Doctors Flat road today but had to consider I was on my own so nothing dramatic.

I was thinking of taking a run out tomorrow and doing a recon of this trail. Maybe I should reconsider until I have a riding partner if it could be as challenging as you say. :eek1

Guess I could take a look and just turn back if it looks too hairy.

I went for a spin to Bendora on Sat, been out there the previous w'end in the wagon, the few wet spots have nearly disappeared. Some sticks, stones and forest litter.
Turn left at Namadgai sign heading towards Tumut, follow through to Bulls Head (go south/west), left out to the dam, back via Picadilly Circus.
Easy run good mix of tight and open forest roads (watch for 4x4's of course)
    Knobs would help.

Passed a newish black DRZ parked 1km in from end of bitumen on the way in,no one around, it was still there 1.2 hours later @ nightfall, I rode on,turned around, went back to get rego as something didn't smell right (ACT 73683 from memory).
    I yelled out,no one.
I mean who leaves a brand new DRZ parked on the main Brindabella road, for hours, into the night???? Given ACT theft rate of Dirt bikes.
Rang cops upon return, just in case....the polite young officer said he rode bikes out there himself.

    I saw a yellow TT600 @ dusk on Cotter road, previous w'end.
Could it be that one that was posted as STOLEN on here?
If you know the details, pass on the sighting,
    could be something,could be nothing...

Pub night sounds a good deal though I've no recommendations to make. Just moved in to a new gaff up Gungahlin way and I've no idea what's good and what's not. :lol3
