Any KLR 650 owners want to trade shims ?
I have a couple (2) extra valve shims of 2.60 mm thickness. lightly used, always kept in clean oil.
Would like to trade for one each: 2.50 and 2.55

I feel youir pain. Been there. However, the odds are low for finding a swap. I have had great luck getting parts mailed out rapidly by TeamCC in Eagle River, and they do stock the shims. good Luck. Hard to look at your bike all apart isnt it?

Send a pm to Beezer on here. He lives in Anchorage and has a collection of 'em.

    Good luck, Mark H.

ha, don't need em..... I got a bucket full 'o 2.60s but I'll let you have the ones you need if you will replace them. my sources for shims are Rocket Mountain ATV and Arrowhead Motorsports

if a guy were desperate you can surface grind them (sheet of sandpaper on a piece of glass)

I did manually take a thousandth off one shim, back around 15,000 miles ago.

This time, I had to go down a scosch more, exchanged shims on 3 of the valves.
Bike is all shimmed up, back together, and road ready now.
I had inspected, and acquired the " next size down " last time I was inside the top.
Getting ready for the next time, so no time pressure..

Surprised they have to cost 13 bucks each, must be special steel.
