I think this qualifies as a scooter adventure
I ran across this guy (Greg) in Colorado while I was up visiting relatives.
He's riding a 50cc from Michigan to California. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() A "damn cop" in Nebraska had given him the orange vest & flex cuffs to hold it in place. Another in Colo had told him that riding a 50cc scoot was illegal in Colorado highways... but she wasn't going to do anything about it. ![]() Good going Greg.

IMO, those 50cc adventure people are plain crazy (in a good way)! I would never have the cojones to do this. Love reading about them.

Hmm, I see 50cc scoots all the time in Breckenridge, CO and you can't get there without going on state highways. Heck, the main street is a state highway. 50cc scooters that are not capable of going over 30mph are banned but many 50cc scooters can exceed 30mph so they would be legal. See http://daysailer1.com/2008/10/21/col...aws-uncovered/ liability insurance is mandatory but under 50cc registration is something like $5.50 for 3 years and that sticker gives you the ability to park at any bike rack in the state instead of paying for parking.

Riding them 50 cc scoots across country is what I call real riding!
Definitly not for everyone. I just plumb don't enjoy riding any more than around no town on a 50 cc. But, its a true adventure on 50 cc! You really get a taste of America, and the road. Youse actually whizzing by on a 2000 cc motorcycle at 74.56 MPH, but on a 50 cc do 35 MPH, you stop more and get more feel for the road sometimes. Plus avoiding the Freeway, well it just ain't easy. Espically in them damn city slickers with there honking cars and traffic, but its real hot out yonder, and that damn piece of shit light just won't never turn green cause them fuckers is turning left! Then finially it turn green, but only for you to hit another damn light. And youse baking under that sun, but luckily on the positive side its only a scooter, mean that that big hot engine and pipes ain't in front of you between your legs, and the scooter is water cooler or its a fan, and its confined in them plastic sides so most of the heat from it you avoid. But still. And getting from place to place takes skill espically without no GPS. Anyway I think this stuff is very intrusting. While surly not for everybody, very intrusting reads. Keep em coming!

It doesn't take all kinds, we just have all kinds
![]() I don't know about other states, but here in Cali, there are sections of interstate where there are no other road options, so even a bicycle is allowed. But you got to get off as soon as other options show up. Try riding from Redding to Mt. Shasta

One of the things I remember fondly when I finally adopted a scoot is that when I hit the roads I've been on for 20+ years around here, I started noticing stuff that had been a blur. I'll always love the 50's.
Great stuff, Jurgen. Thanks for posting.

The only reason the guy and I talked is he had stopped about a mile up the road from where I took the "action" shots. He had spotted some sunglasses (in great shape, but women's) in the road. I stopped to make sure all was a-ok. Talk about noticing stuff.

![]() Hardest part for me to get used to on a 50 was the speed (or lack thereof). Once I got my head wrapped around that, it was GREAT. You'd get there..eventually, and have fun doing it. Crap...I'm back to having a bad case of Ruckus Lust!
