OK mate, thanks for replying back and clearing up the difference with each model. I like the coolness of the mesh, but I've already seen what happens to synthetic mesh material when slid down the road and I'm just not fully convinced (to each their own). So I'm putting my money where my mouth is and just ordered your Lombard V3, which I hope to waterproof more with some seam sealing. I've already got one of your mesh LEATHER jackets and am very happy with it. I'm sure the Lombard V3 will be just as good. Cheers, -Dan
I am 6' 1", 49" chest, 36 - 38 waist, 33" inseam, 220 - 235 lbs, athletic build. All that's left on the website is silver V3 Lombards in XXL. Anybody out there near my size wearing an XXL or did you go with the 4XL like it seems the chart suggests? Would love to get one of the sale suits as I'm not working right now but I don't want to be like wearing a sausage casing. Thoughts?
I'm the guy on the 990 in the pictures above and am pretty close in size to what you described. I wear a 3XL (original Lombard). I'm 6'2", 38WX32L, 240lbs. You can't go wrong as Ghazi will work with you to help find the best fit. Mine is still working perfectly and has been crashed in more than once (luckily no high speed pavement test yet). Cheers, John
So I guess I better pass on the XXL and order a V4 Lombard unless some inmate answers my ad in the Gear section looking for a used Lombard.
IMO, the critical measurement here will be the length of your torso. I'm 6' and similar build to you. I'm wearing a 2XL just fine, but if I was any longer in the torso, it would start to annoy me and limit movement.
Like Racenut said, also measure your torso and then choose 3XL or 4XL based on the torso measurement. Baggio - 2 piece suits are in the prototype stage and we will have preview ready very soon.
It got here yesterday. I love new gear. Ordered on Friday and arrived on Tuesday. That's fast. I only had a couple minutes to check it out but my initial impressions are good. Most importantly the fit feels very good. It was feeling small when putting it on but I think that was just because it was my first time putting on a full suit. Once it was all zipped up it was fine. Across the back felt a little tight but I need to try it on the bike. I may have been exagerating how much I actually have to reach. Quality definitely surpasses cost here. It looks and feels much more expensive than it actually was.
My new Mojave 2 one piece suit arrived today. Haven't ridden yet only test fitted it tonight. Mine is a big boy size XXL Tall. Here's my first impressions. The mesh is a little lighter/thinner than I expected but the reason I got it was hot weather commuting in the South so I'm sure it will be fine. My most favorable impression is the sizing. I'm 6'6" 270 with a 38"+ waist and 36" inseam. I've bought plenty of pants in the past that claimed to be tall length only to have them riding above my boots. This tall size is the real deal. They will the perfect length in a riding position. I don't have much spare room in the XXL but that will just be an incentive to not get any fatter than I am. Overall, especially for the price, I'm pleased with the suit although my wife says I look like an astronaut in it.
Got my Lombard V3 in the mail today and decided to take it for a test spin. Initial impressions are good. The sucker is heavy, lots of material went into it and it seems very well made. It was 94F, so a bit hot, but I wanted to check the ventilation out. 1) The liner has a couple of straps on each arm and leg which are used to secure it to loops on the suit. This keeps the liner from pulling out of the sleeves or legs when you pull your arm/leg out. On the legs the mechanism is fine because of the large zipper which provides easy access to the loops sewn into the inside of the suit. It's easy to unzip the legs and access the loops with no hassle at all. On the arms I can see this being a PITA if I have to do this once a season. The loops inside of the sleeves are too far up to be convenient. Just a thought in case you are looking for things to improve. It's a small gripe, Ghazi. 2) The paint legs are STIFF. I think it will loosen up some after some use. By stiff I mean that it was harder to plant my legs where I wanted them on the ground without putting a lot more effort. I think this could be a combination of the heavy duty front zipper and the folding panels which velcro shut to protect the zipper. Again, it's well made. 3) The top ventilation is very good for a non-mesh suit. The torso stays pretty cool, but the ventilation slits don't stay open as well as they could. It's pretty much the same on every other jacket I have ever had ventilation openings on and Ghazi has changed the design on the new Power Shell to flaps. The ventilation of the torso will be good because I plan to use a cooling vest if I have to commute in the summer months with it. The arms are going to suffer because there is no air flow from the wrist to the bicep area. It would be great to have some form of ventilation in this area. The ventilation in the legs, other than around the groin area, is non-existent. I'll be playing around with leaving the bottom zipper open a ways to try and get better ventilation down there. None of this is a gripe, I am extremely happy with the suit so far and just like my jacket I think it's worth more than the selling price. If Teiz gets a little more brand recognition I am sure the prices could easily go up and they could still compete. Furthermore, this suite is not advertised as a summer suit. Ghazi is right about it, it's probably good to ride comfortably in up to 85F weather and I think I can even stand to wear it in the 90's as long as I'm moving and getting some airflow. Bike is an R1150GSA. To be able to take the suit off and be wearing shorts and a T-shirt underneath is marvelous :) Very awesome product Ghazi. I am a return customer and will certainly recommend you to my friends. I think I'm going to ride my GSA to the foothills tomorrow, with this suit, instead of my Duc & full leathers so I can give it a proper trial :) -Dan
I've removed the liner several times in the last few months, and find it very easy (to do the snaps in the arms). You'll be good at it before long. I originally thought the same thing- but have changed my mind.
Spotted a Lombard in the 2011 Iron Butt Rally pics: https://tobie.smugmug.com/Other/2011-Iron-Butt-Rally/17680758_nXzP68#1350047306_55rHsHV
Yes, I'm going to be looking for some short cuff gloves, but I don't want to loosen the wrists up too much and have the sleeves ride up on me in a crash (crap, knock on wood). Like I mentioned in my previous post, none of it is a gripe and I also stated that it was 94F, which is already pretty hot. These are first impressions to allow others the benefit of knowing how I felt the suit will do in the heat out of the box and to provide some constructive feedback to Ghazi, since he's constantly evolving his design to better it. As I said, it's a LOT of bang for the buck and even flows much better than suits at 3 times the price.
sweeeet! Personally, i leave the cuffs open when i need some air. also, tighten the arms using the buttons and that should help you feel safer/snug in terms of arm material rising up
I had my Lombard v3 in 91F heat the other day. I was warm but comfortable and still had some tolerance to go higher. I had on khakis and a work shirt and was on my Ninja 650. I opened the cuffs since and it does work better. Thanks for the tip. I can't rip it off fast enough once I get home and stop moving though. Moving air is necessary. So far it's great.
Just a few action shots of me in my hi-viz Lombard V2. LOVE this suit. Also now have the V3 which I love even more! I didn't expect to be dragging my knee this day so I didn't have the Teiz pucks attached. Had to borrow some strap on pucks to keep from messing up the suit. Also a couple of shots of me in my Mojave during a recent trip to NC/TN. It was the perfect suit for the temps and served me well for a day of dual-sport riding as well as the rest of the week on the roads on and around The Tail of the Dragon. Thanks Ghazi for the great products and support! I am so spoiled now by these 1-pc suits. I tried to wear my old Joe Rocket Phoenix 2.0 mesh 2-pc suit the other day and was not nearly as comfortable. Had to turn around, go home, ditch the Rocket and put on my Mojave!
