Thanks Chanderjeet. I'm way off at the outer edge of Gurgaon, where the buildings end and dirt tracks begin.

Very nice. It is always interesting to see how things used to be not so long ago.

Thanks. And yeah, it wasnt all that long ago, was it. Yet, the pace of change only increases every year.

So who else is a Gurgaon guy?

Hey, I just read your Himalayan ride report too. Interestingly, I've bought tyres from the same guy too.....he seems to be the only one who keeps off-road and dual sport type tyres.

And you did the ride on a .....Pulsar! That is sacrilege.....this area is almost completely signed off on a concession to Enfields. Hehe, I jest. What matters is the ride.

So the problem is this - Foreign visitors have no choice but to buy bikes from Karol Bagh, which is the world's largest collection of thieves and shifty characters. They sell you junk and the Enfield gets a bad rap.

I've ridden Enfields since 1994, done all kinds of rides and never had problems. Well, once I sucked water into the engine and fuel tank and twice had clutch cables break on me.

The Enfields are good, but the ones available for tourists on the grey market are the much abused, raped and bombed out examples.

Nice. If you are interested, may be we can plan out a little ride. Towards Mangar maybe?

Thanks Cari.. I must tell you, the Manali bit is now quite bad and highly avoidable. Tourist hordes, traffic jams.....
If you ever do the ride, go in through Spiti Valley and join in after Rohtang Pass on to the same Leh route.

Hi CJ. I'm hibernating for the summer, just cant deal with the mind-boggling heat. Will start riding again in Sep/Oct. We can hook up then. And yep, the hills around Manger are where I can be found every weekend morning in half decent weather :)

Till then, just one big ride in July up in Spiti/Ladakh.
