What is it with this 'Bobber' craze?

A friend just built this, then proceeded to take it on a 1200 mile weekend trip to deals gap. I kind of want to put something together now. I'm not sure how the hand shift worked out on the tail of the dragon, but he's still with us so it must have been ok

You realize this is going to turn in to a Bobber picture thread now, right?

I'm thinking about doing something similar to this with my V-Star. There's no change to the frame, steering, or suspension and it can be easily brought back to stock if needed

What is it, with worrying about what other people ride? I don't ride a bobber, and could give a shit less who does, or why they do it. Ride what you want to ride. Dare I say........

We built my wife a bobber out of a Suzuki savage. It is a total mess of a cliche - flat black- check, exhaust wrap- check, no fenders- you bet. And she loves it. It's a pretty fun little around town ride, she gets to wear some leather and gets a change from her regular rides. She's 43 and doesn't care what people think. The hipster kids love that thing. I have a pretty sweet R100 that never gets a second look when we're out together.

That's actually a V-Star 650 Classic which is quite affordable Blue Collar Bobbers has quite a few kits for many bikes you might not think about like the Rebel and they've got a cafe kit for the Ninja 250

True, most of these bikes never see adverse weather, but I know rtwdoug has done some epic rides on bikes without front fenders

You don't need a front fender to ride in the rain. The bike will get by quite nicely, assuming you're up for it.

You guys kill me here sometimes. Anything can be toured on, and guys such as rtwdoug prove that quite often. If someone wants to build a bobber then tour on it, more power to them. It's their bike to do as they wish.
