Has anyone mounted 2 Rotopaxs side by side on the rear rack? They would stick out over the panniers, spread the weight out a little more, and might be easier to stack camping stuff on top of. Obviously you couldn't do that if you took off your panniers, and yes it would be a pain to take them off every time you needed to get into your panniers. Just wondering if anyone has tried it.

2 gallons on the rack would take this much space and be 3" high.

4 gallons would be 6" high stacking them.

The CJ rack is not wide enough to mount 2 tanks side by side because the narrow dimension puts the tank mounting slot sideways.

I thought the CJDesgins rack extended over the exhaust? I know the BDCW rack extends pretty far out. I was then thinking you could drill the rack to accept two Roto Pax mounts, side by side. Im ordering a couple 1.75 gallon tanks to see if it will work, and also a 3 gallon tank since a single tank is probably the best route to go.

Edit, The BDCW Large rack is 12 x 17 wide, the CJDesgins is 11.5 x 14 wide.

    EDIT EDIT:
Like this, but across the entire back.

I'm about to follow the lead of others here and mount two 2 gallon Rotopax to the ktm racks.

but I wonder if anyone (apart from me) has considered plumbing them into the fuel tank crossover tube.??
Similar to a nomad rear tank.

Hello on the French KTM Adventure someone did something little bit similar.
The extra tankers were the ACERBIS one
They were fixed on the front crash bar ( both side)
And connected to the KTM main tanker ( probably connected to the pump)
But one day the guy felled and the KTM burned..

Here a thread that can help you .. the guy build an extra tanker and fixed a mikuni pump .. it is all in French

Below some pic I found that show the rotopax fixed on support

Whoa! Sounds like an awesome idea!

Also, the inmate who cuts these for me is off the grid for about another 10 days. I am not keeping a 'inventory' so they are cut to order.

Also, I have a DIY top rack which can also fit a rotopax on a ktm (or any other bike) perfectly. To get an idea of the size, they are the same size as a medium flat rate USPS box.

I have a few ready to go. (I bought a qty of these and still have a few left)

Sold the 990 Adv and got an 1190 Adv R. Decided to keep the rotopax tanks and boxes. Drilled the stock rack as a start. Maybe we need another thread. :D

I like this idea very much and that definitely gave me idea for my sportster project because I was juggling with many different idea how to give myself extra fuel to carry on top of my 2.5 gallons. This is what I think I will go with!! (with Wolfman luggages on sides, not merriman's can.)

Beergut, I assume you are thinking of similar thing what Mechanical posted?? Maybe it is decent if you are in the USA or off-roading.. but when traveling outside USA where you can split lane and get through traffic to front of stop light.. forget it! :puke1 Too wide to weave around.. You will appreciate Hondo's work assuming you use wolfman luggages or smaller panniers. :deal

16k miles later I replaced the cutting boards with aluminum. No wear or cracks were apparent in any part of the system, it just seemed like time....

I broke both sides of my sub frame (thank you KTM warranty) with only a front tube and pair of tire irons in my knockoff brand pelican case, and the 2 gal Rotopax(full) on top of the case.
This was my setup all because I was too cheap to get the Giant Loop Coyote saddlebag, which I've since purchased. So now, ideally, the Rotopax will be the only thing attached to the rear rack. I'm toying with the idea of removing the case handle and re-installing the Rotopax mount so that it sits vertical, with the Coyote bag sitting against it.

Same here. Working on a design now to use the "negative space" on the shifter side.

Kriega Overlander ADV Platforms / Overlander 60. Fits KTM PowerParts or standard shaped Touratech pannier racks on all models, including the 9X0.

Mechanical, do you mind if I ask how much it cost for the aluminum, laser cutting, and custom mounting stuff? I have the identical Wolfman bag setup and was thinking of doing the same thing. Nice to know someone else has already done it! :clap

Also, what size are those gas cans? I'm looking at the 2 gallon but not sure that the pannier mounting straps will reach around...

    Thanks in advance!

Not really related but I have to share...
One of my 4 years (and few raids) old rotopax suddenly show a very small leak.
I sent some pictures to Rotopax and asked how too fix it
The answer was "what's your address, we send you a new one"
The biggest surprise was when I receive a parcel with 2 Rotopax inside!!!
    Bravo!
When they say leak proof, they mean it!, you can trust them!
