All valid points to be fair. I thought steamboat was incredible and would be there again in a heartbeat too.
This is the impression I got as well as that I think they look for places like Steamboat that are off season for the reasons I mentioned before. Traffic, bad, on season, expensive hotels and no flexibility for deals.
Still like Flagstaff in Northern Arizona. Relatively short dirt road ride to a Grand Canyon overview. Good off road riding in all directions and very scenic. Some very good curvy pavement going towards Globe. Although strict 55 mph speed limit on all roads off the freeways. Luckily I got a warning from an officer that also was a biker in his time off. Also, not a word on https://www.ktm.com/us/news-events/press.html about a rally!
We are hoping for Whitefish MT which is also a ski resort town. Heard a rumour on this too. Having once lived there and been around too I teally think it would be a good time. You have unbelievable single track that is barely ridden and not whooped out, dual track and fireroads. Of course you have Glacier National Park, the Great Northern bar and people that are 180 from the people of Jackson etc..
Would be great in my opinion. We could head to Yellowstone park..less than 2 hours to Old Faithful then back thorough the West gate check out Earth quake lake and many other great areas. The only problem for me is this is near where I grew up (Idaho Falls) and I would love to be heading somewhere new.

Registered. Now, which hotel do you think is the best one? I ride a GSA and I'm used to the finer things in life.
I'm all registered and booked. I picked alpine suites. Never been to one of these but want to demo a 1190R so what the hell! visit my family in utah and colorado on the way.
I just registered for the event. If anyone wants to ride down together let me know. I plan on camping at the event or the closest campground. I'm excited for the ride to and from.
My plan is to ride my 950 Stupid enduro from My sisters place in Boulder, CO. to Taos friday morning the 19th.
