Hey guys can I get any help or advice on lowering 650GS. I have a short wife and daughter. Thanks in advance for any advice.
The only difference between the F650GS standard height vs low height is the rear shock. They come up used all the time in the FM for +/- $200. For a more spendy option (but a much improved ride), Ohilns makes a F650GS low height rear shock too. For the front forks, you have a few options. Factory, the front forks are raised in the triple tree 1/8-1/4 inch. I've raised mine as much as 1 inch. I've since lowered them back up to flush with the triple tree. Hyperpro makes lowered front springs which are progressive spring rate. I believe the real bang for your buck will the adding Gold Valve intimidators.
When you put on a low rear shock you also need to put on the shorter sidestand. Both can be DIY if you are comfortable doing things mechanical. mike
.....and the centre stand will be too long. Just a thought, you are aware of the "low" seat option right?
My wife's bike is a lowered F650GS and I added the center stand after doing some research on the net. The bike goes up easily enough on the stand. The only tricky part is getting your foot in the right place as the stand wants to spring back up when you lower it down to access the foot pad. Have yet to drag the stand. mike
Thanks I hope to not have to lower much. I might be able to drop the forks in the trees we will just have to see.
PM sent about lowering. My father just bought a lowered 2010 GS650 and would like to rise her back up to stock height. Let me know if you want to swap any parts. PS it has the lowered seat too
Hey guys thanks for all the replies. Looks like I won't have to lower them much. I think I can drop the forks in the trees about 3/4 of an inch and be good on both. Ride safe guys.
