I'm sprung for 65 lbs over. That does not include the times when I'll be carrying extra fuel and water for the longer legs.

Max weight will be about 85 lbs and the norm is about 60 lbs.

Did a local technical ride today loaded. It was suckish but expected.

Bike starts its journey East next week.(shipping) After that its just a long slow crawl toward home.

Pic I took today. Railing tight uphill lefty. Does that tire look familiar???
Still rocking the same one from last year. lol As you can see; there is zero tread left. Better gas mileage on the pavement this way!

    Good times

A 9'X12' embossed painters tarp work very well as a camp tarp. You can string it over your living area to keep most of your stuff dry. Depending on how high you rig it, you can cook under it as well.

I've already invested in the Kelty tarp in the photo above. I can setup the chair w/o the legs extented and cook under it too; as you mentioned.

I connect the tarp to the brushguard on my bars and the other end I just tack to the ground. Super fast and easy.

The bivy comes with the Tyvek ground sheet so that system is a "all in one" deal. Just roll it out on the ground.

I've waterproofed everything else on its own as well.
This means there is absolutely zero chance it will rain for the entire journey.
    You know how that works....

Well, the planning report is getting close to closure.
The bike should be picked up this week and start inching its way across the U.S; final destination, Wilmington, NC.

Today I did a final check to make sure I have the right stuff going and the right stuff staying. No doubt I'll F something up.

A few days back BC wrote asking about weight. Today I weighed stuff.

    Here are the final numbers.

    Weight on body: 41 lbs
This is riding gear and whatever I'm carrying on person.

    Weight on bike: 41 lbs
This is anything packed on the bike. Camp, tools, tubes....

This does not include food, water or extra fuel.
I have the option to carry an extra 2 gal of fuel. 12 lbs
I have 170oz max capacity of water. 9 lbs

This makes my min weight at 82 lbs and the max at about 105 lbs.
(only plan to have the 2 gal extra gas three times)*long legs*

    Is what it is.

Here's a pic of everything. Looks light(ish) in the picture huh????

Back near the beginning I listed where I'll be and the dates; I'm still open to riding along with people if our paths are the same. Even if only for a day.

Nothing to do with planning; I just like this photo....
Pretending I'm riding in the Pac Northwest.

*minus the rain, mud, cold, bugs, cold, snow, bears and the chainsaw mounted to the front* HA!

California log bumping is really easy without all that extra stuff.

    Thanks Chris!

This is a big step past you teaching me how to use that Garmin huh???!

I am bummed that I'll be missing the Hard Way this year. Tell everyone I'll be back gunn'n for that plaque again next year.

Do need to get you #. I'll PM you over on SDAdv for it.

Thanks again for the support and for being the push behind me getting into this type of riding.

    SICVIC,
What gear and provisions are you taking with? You may want to check that rear tire, it may be below minimum tread spec! LOL.

    SICVIC,
You need more stickers if you want to finish the trip.

Man you nailed it! I just put like 15 more stickers on that huffy. Everyone knows a sticker is just like a band-aid. It's the only thing holding ole girrrl together...oh, and a few hose clamps of course...and Krylon paint...Still gotta get me a fatty Redwings sticker... Represent whaaa what!

Provisions....I have some ChapStick, coffee, and some wet-naps! Should be enough for the first month.

I got the tire used; the guy said it had 70% left on it. I just figured it was one of those low rolling resistance tyres..???

    Joe Dude!
I unholstered the compressor for this trip. I feel like a weak sadsack for doing it.
You watch; I'll get like 37 and a 1/3 flats along the way.
I'll have the little sissy bike pump that I'm bringing melted before I get to TN!

Wanted to ask ya. Is anyone starting the T1 on 8/9? I don't have that FB stuff so I have no idea what happening with that gig.
Be cool to have someone to laugh at me along the way.
    Not super important; just wondering.

Just throw me a CO2 cartridge as you ride by.

    Sic,
Gameyogi here on ADV has that as one of his optional start dates. PM him for updates. Most have not publicized or starting earlier. I will meet you on the trail or sleep in the same town with me going in the opposite directions as I head south starting on the 7th. If we are both on plan we will meet in the middle of your TID day 3 I estimate.

"Certainty is the enemy of Adventure". We are just as likely to meet at the ER in poky as we are to meet according to plan. But I look forward to it.

Reading this and I laughed out loud. This is exactly how I think.
Super stoked to "run" into you out on Day 3. I'll keep it pinned wide open in every blind corner just to do my part of ensuring we end up at that ER!
