I've got a few jackets, but my favorite overall is my Firstgear Kilimanjaro Air. I've lost a fair bit of weight in the last few months, and my trusty 4XL is billowing around me. I dropped by Newenough to order a 2XL, and couldn't find it; it's not listed on the firstgear website as being a current model. Anybody know anything about this? It looks like the Torrent is the replacement model, but I could be wrong. Any ideas where to look to find a NOS Kili Air?
Hi, Try eBay,got a great deal on one a few months back.New with tags! It was from a private seller, but see a lot of stuff from commercial outfits. JR356
Why didn't I think of that? There's only about 70 being offered there right now, a blowout prices. I think I'll pick up a couple...
I have a Blue/Black one, size 2XL available. Worn once and in excellent condition. It was just too big for me. PM if interested. I'll post pictures later.
you can get the Heine Gericke Air Timbuktu for $99 new, just saw them on sale somewhere.....almost identical but 3 yr warranty instead of 2, HG used to own FirstGear but sold it off.....
Thanks, Jim, I picked up a new blue/black 2XL on ebay today for $117. It should show up in a couple of days, and I'll test the fit. At that point I might buy a different size if necessary, or pick up another one or two, I might PM you then. I know that sounds stupid, there's new stuff from Firstgear and I have plenty of other jackets, but I've really enjoyed the one I have, I've worn it almost exclusively for the last two years - now if I could just figure out how to clean the bugs off..
$125 for either version here, scroll to bottom of page: http://www.motogearoutlet.com/jacket.htm JR356
I've got a regular Kili II as well, but our summers are pretty scorching during the day, then cold at night here in the mountains - the standard Kili doesn't give me as much ventilation as I'd like when the temp is 90 or above. The Kili Air just works for me. It's hard to find a mesh jacket in a longer 3/4 length, I have shorter mesh jackets (including the Firstgear Meshtex, which is quite good), but I prefer a longer looser fit; the Kili Air is (was) unique in that regard.
