I feel ya. I hate it too, and I live here. I have land in Randolph co. AL, and have considdered for the past few years putting a house/ shop on it and getting out of here, but I think I'd probably get 45 cents for my house here. tank held 4.2 or 4.5 gallons before I 'relieved' it to make the forks fit (I forget which) and the spare holds 1.5 gallons.

I'm plannin to meet Tom (motoreiter) in Yakutsk, & we'll tackle the RoB together. I wouldnt try the old summer road alone. This depends on weather also, if it rains alot, we'll stick to the 'good road'

Also, there a chap from jolly old england named Simon that I'll probably meet up with somewheres about Mongolia.

They are both ridin BMW's, but I told em not to worry, I'll bring a tow rope along. I wont leave them stuck anywhere!

ummm yeah ... come to think of it ... I sorta didnt know you were going to do the Old Summer Road when we talked about range.

You might want a second reserve container when you fill up in Tomtor. Any old 4 litre oil container will do just fine. Tomtor to Susuman will be the range challenge.

I needed a little education before the RR starts in earnest.

nice, but I noticed Captain Magadan is not listed there?
no one knows the route/area like Walter does.

I actually have considered hauling ass across Russia & spend the summer just exploring the area, as theres towns north of Magadan, so there must be some sort of trails/roads going farther north, altho I'd bet most of the travel there is via rivers. Plus the BAM would be fun to try. but I'll see how things go this year. It aint goin nowhere, I can always go back.

Oh, my bike is enroute, & I can pick it up at 10am tomorrow.

first they said I'd have to wait til monday, but I used my southern charm on the unwary fraulein, and now I can get it tomorrow

Are you timing your arrival to the road of bones until fall when the rivers will be low or are you sending a herd of tote goats ahead to pull you through the mud?
