hi all, looking for opinions as to what might be the problem, though I THINK I already know I left my 376C in my car after running it on battery for a few hours and it didn't turn on when I tried it again without external power. so I took it inside and provided power and I get the words "Battery Missing". I hoped it was just run down so I left it charging overnight but checked it this morning and no luck. I need a new battery, don't I?
Unless, by some bizarre event, your battery is in fact missing, I would say, yeah, it's toast. Maybe it would be a good idea to look at it first - is it accessable in that unit or do you have to ship it off to Garmin, like my Quest?
Try taking the battery out for a minute then putting it back in and then plug it in and see if it shows up then.
thanks for the replies. I did remove the battery and reinstalled but no difference. Oh well, the unit has to go back to repair a cracked case anyway, I guess installing a new battery at the same time won't be too big of a job for them... again, thanks for the replies...
Yep. You could try a hard reset on the unit, the directions are in there somewhere. Most times though that battery missing message means the battery has died. Just curious - how old is the 376? Mine is 2 full years old and I have run it many times on just the battery as well as on 12v and have never had a problem. Just wondering if I should expect one. Dave
Lithium-Ion batteries are sensitive to full discharge, and being drained to zero can indeed render it useless. Li-Ion batteries will normally have an internal shut-off point to ensure it doesn't reach 0% charge.... but it may have done so (age of the battery will also affect how sensitive it is to full discharge)... thus, it may be dead
