    Hey Boulderites,

Help out a fellow rider. Can you let me know of a good family restaurant if you have a chance? Looking to purchase a "dinner on me" for someone and---I've never been there! Not looking for a Quizno's lol...homemade, or just plain good local favorite!

    Appreciate the help!

This is a great place - run by Sherpas who have climbed major Napalese peaks - including Everest. Lots of pictures on the walls of various climbs and unique Nepalese food - try the Yak, it's suprisingly good!

Zolo Grill in arapahoe and 28. Good southwestern (not mexican) food. A bit trendy but very good.

We have lots of amazing restaurants in town, it's like what we do. Some are pricy though.
The Kitchen is great. "Upstairs" is great. Japango did a remodel and is amazing, plus Stan knows how to make a killer whiskey ginger.
Hapa is always a fun scene, always good talent working there

JaiHo Boulder, 28th north of REI. Not especially cheap, but the food is beyond reproach.

    It's Northern Indian cuisine, BTW.

My favorite used to be Magnolia Thunder Pussy at Broadway and University back in the 60's, but that was a long time ago and it is long gone... :lol3

Boulder has okay food. After living in San Francisco and Seattle, it's been a real let-down.

Spend a little time in rural Wyoming & you'll absolutely LOVE the food in Boulder, or Ft Collins, or Greeley.

I've lived all over the US. New Hampshire was a food desert, as was the part of Texas where I lived. Santa Fe has great New Mexican and little else. I haven't found one single sushi restaurant, Chinese or Thai place that is worth going to in Boulder. I really didn't expect that when I moved to Colorado. I was sure the food would be outstanding. Not so much.

It is silly to expect great food where it is not local to an area. Get lobster in Maine, fried chicken in the south, enchiladas in New Mexico, beef in Wyoming, trout in Colorado, Chinese in San Francisco, fish tacos in Baja, seafood in Seattle. Great fresh seafood or Thai in the Rockies? Part of traveling is experiencing the local culture. Set yourself up for success. :dunno

I completely disagree. Fresh ingredients are available easily. We have airplanes and overnight shipping these days. It's an excuse, and a bad one. Good food comes from good chefs, and there are apparently not a lot of them in these parts. As an example, the best Asian food in North America is found in Vancouver, Canada. Using your example, you should only eat salmon and other seafood there. That would be a mistake.

Good food comes from low expectations. :deal

    I know, I have them. :lol3

I believe Southern Sun is the place by Ski Deals. Great upscale hippy bar food for us culinary Philistines. :D
