    Hi all,
I'd really like to add an affordable remote starter to my Ford Fusion, and am looking for advice. I saw the following one for sale on EBay:

2013-2014 FORD FUSION REMOTE STARTER OEM BI-DIRECTIONAL DS7J-19G367-AA

I would have posted the eBay auction link, but I didn't want to run afoul the rules.

    I'm curious:

    1) Is it compatible with my 2010 Fusion?
    2) Is everything I need included?
    3) Is this something a DIY'er can install?
    4) Is there an aftermarket unit I should consider instead? I haven't seen one yet that comes with everything I need for my Fusion. The kits all seem piecemeal, and I'm not sure if I'm getting everything I need.

It looks pretty plug and play, I just didn't want to get stuck with something I couldn't install myself. Any Ford experts out there that can help?
    Thanks!
    Chuck

I installed one once on my 1995 chevy pickup, it was a nightmare of an install. Had to splice something like 2 dozen wires. I ended up grabbing the whole mess and ripping it out one night when it went haywire and was trying to start without me hitting any buttons.

Are they easier to install these days?

I used to install them back in the day, if it isn't plug and play I would not recommend DIY.:deal

Why you would want it........seems stupid to me, but it's not mine.
That said.......unless you can find a "ford" piece, stay away from generic, fit all type units. They have every option for every vehicle out their, so they can sell "fits all models" They are a general nightmare to put in, unless you do it everyday. I've done a few.
Check www.the12volt.com for insight/tips you just have to have one
    Good luck

Unless it is completely plug and play, pay to have one installed. Just do your research before picking an installer.

Which reminds me, I still need to crawl under my dash to make sure my installer did an acceptable job.

24 years in the 12volt/Car Audio industry; find a good independent car stereo shop and pay to have it done. Nothing is really plug and play meaning connections need to be soldered if you want it done right.

    Not a shade tree project!!!!!!

10-4. That's the conclusion I was slowly coming to. I don't mind some soldering and electrical work, I just don't want to get stuck with a unit that requires the dealer to "enable" something in my car...

it's more an issue of being able to find the right wires and their locations.
