Easy to pick the flag of France:

But be careful with the flags of Italy and Mexico:

Ya, ok, well, you can fall back on the emblem on the center white stripe, or lack thereof, to see La Difference entre México/Italia

Even if you're sure, You still did not have lunch in Aix en Provence, about 20 kilometers north of Marseille today. :freaky

So next time when you see the flag of México, imagine that flag without the center emblem, and you will have the flag of Italy

I think that must be what I did last time. My gps was glitching around the border so I went straight. I came to an abandon toll booth, not knowing where else to go I just went around the lowered gate and kept going. I never knew there was a city nearby. It all worked out. On the return trip the gps routed me right through Reynosa.

I have enough pesos for a couple of days, just have to be careful about weekends. Seems like I couldn't find an exchange or ATM over the weekend in Xilitla and the way things are looking were probably going to cross Friday this time.

    Cycling jerseys:

Old style (my generation Trice, not like you could relate :lol3) Italian National Champion -

    Modern Mexican national team jersey:

Modern (and disputed - the FIA made them change the design) Italian National Champion -

All of this probably goes some ways towards explaining why the Italians have, for many years, issued a green/white/red jersey to their national champions but the national team usually gets a blue jersey with a small Italian logo:

    Head's up!

As of November 17, 2013 all motorcycles operating on Mexican federal thoroughfares will be required to have liability insurance valid for Mexico.

With the new insurance pay out caps, it is a damn good idea without it being obligatory. Rumor has it that this is one they will be checking to make a point about it.

I was looking for an article on the recent murder of Malcolm X's grandson in Mexico and found this article: http://m.nydailynews.com/1.1300152

Basically a naive American from Minnesota killed by 3 Mexicans he hired to work on the house he was building. Just tragic. This guy meant no harm to anyone.

The three Mexicans who killed Kyle received 7 years in jail for the murder.

    Just senseless.

This is part of an advert from Tim Morton's Baja Bound, with whom I'm riding in September (the Tecate to Cabo run for 8 1/2 days)

They appear to still have spaces on that ride, if interested

I was going to haul the KTM to San Diego for this, but sent Tim an email to let him know that I'll just rent one of his bikes, like this 450 depicted here

8 1/2 days, mostly off road. If that's your cup of tea, check it out.

I've carried liability or liability + with Mex Adventure since day one, opting for yearly coverage and yearly renewals every time.

If you have a current printout but want the increased limits, just give them (or your provider of choice) a call and your policy will be upgraded and you will be able to re-print your current policy to reflect the upgrades.

I will always carry a card, in Spanish, that explains the various insurances I have

This includes coverages for the bike, for health, and for medical evacuation

The gist of it is basically "yes, I see I've got myself in a bit of a mess, but here's proof I've got myself covered"

I didn't come up with the idea, I got it from a rider who told a long and involved story of his entanglement with the Napoleonic legal system after being in an incident in Durango.

I took a pic of Bato in front of this church. I'll find it when I'm not lazy.

That's the way you do it. Duct tape that card and your credit card to your forehead before they start the morphine drip and enjoy the trip.:freaky

How did all that Euro vacation with paella, pizza, pasta, and gnochhis/gelatos affect the "cut like granite" profile?
