    Bump to page 1.

It's the FS 42 sign at Doublehead Gap Road outside of Ellijay. Enter here for a leisurely 25-or-so-mile ride to Suches.

I'll bet many of you DOGS have ridden past this sign post many times. Be sure to ride on up the trail to learn about a young woman named Missouri and the rest of her family.

Here comes the weekend. Anyone riding? Anyone Googling?

The dead have no secrets. All the clues you need are carved here in stone. Visit this county with a name that harkens back to the North but is home to these Southern souls.

Well this tag isn't in the dirt but it's not for lack of trying. There's plenty of good dirt travel near by and I found some new roads that I really enjoyed! If you look at the trees in the upper right corner of the picture you can clearly see that they are South Carolina trees while those on the left side of the picture are Georgia trees.

The ride out to Yonah Dam was so nice that I decided to keep the new tag in the same area. So I just moved the tag a little further up the road. Go past the dam and then bear to the left on a little dirt road named after the popular, local trout stream. If you follow that road to the end, you'll see the power lines in the tag. The tag itself is the "end of the line." You can't go any further without running into trout stream.

I would say this is pretty accessible for most road bikes that have a little bit of ground clearance. You will have to negotiate one small hill, which is a little more challenging than it looks in the picture. The pic below is the tag location rotated 180 degrees (small hill in background).

Between GA Power and the Forest Service, they've locked us out of a lot of good riding here. I have heard that if you go around the gates at Panther Creek, you can still get up to Tallulah Village, which is a pretty awesome, scenic climb. I wouldn't recommend that tho, as I have also heard that doing so will make your (even quiet) exhaust echo all through the valley below.

I used to wade around fishing behind Yonah quite often. Caught a ton of spotted bass, largemouth, and even a couple of walleye.
