Fuel off loading from the left tank to the right tank causing it to over flow.

So for the second time since I got the bike I've seen the Fuel cross load from the left tank to the right tank causing it to over flow. Both times its happened when it's on the side stand and I've filled the tanks earlier in the day. Spills out of it at a steady rate. I've opened both fuel tanks both times and the fuel level equalises. I've now closed of the right tank altogether to stop the fuel entering it from the left.

Anyone come across this before?

After performing the canisterectomy, route your vent hose up into the fairing to a point higher than the tanks. This should solve the problem.

Eric, it sounds like the left tank is building pressure up and the only way to release this pressure is through the right tank. I would look for a pinched or clogged front ventilation hose in the left tank.

Would you not still benefit from the routing? or do you already have that?

You don't need pressure in the left tank to overflow the right. On the side stand the left vent fitting is higher than that on the right, and so gravity is enough to do it.

The high vent hose routing rises above both vents.

Definatley something I'll look at so.

I have wondered about the Flapendectomy, but don't know how it works: does it not cause venting through, or around the cap? When on the sidestand, would it not let gas run out at the cap?

His is going from the left to the right...... "uphill" on the side stand.

Reading is hard.

That is correct. Going from the left side tank to the right side tank. Couldn't find any pinched breather hoses on the left side.

Did you check if it was clogged?

Have tried this so I'll report results on the next fill. Worst case I'll have to buy two new diaframs. Best case it works.

but too tightly bent. Then when getting hot, they soften and pinch.

When I stripped everything off completely for the service today I found a pinch in the main breather hose. It had been caught between the tank and frame.
