Looking to gain some of the vast knowledge in this forum. I ran my 2010 GSA fuel down to about .5 gallon left in the tank. I parked on the side stand and went in to get some parts came back out and bike hit once but did not start. Tried on center stand then again on side stand trying to get fuel to the pickup tube. No luck. Got about a quart of fuel from parts store and finally got it to fire. Question is, what side is the fuelpump pickup and is there a procedure to get the last bit of fuel. Just needed to get a couple of blocks to the station. I have seen a fellow adv has built a jumper for the fuel pump, would this help in this situation? Thanks for any assistance in my quest for knowledge.
On the GSA there is a pickup on the left, and a sucking jet pump on the right to transfer fuel to the pump side. That said, if you can lean your bike over on the left pretty far you can pick up a few ounces. Jim
Jim, Does the same hold true for the GS? Leaning to the LEFT side will get you the last few ounces...in case of an emergency? If you use this procedure...do you have to rename your bike "ILENE"?:huh
It should. The early ones had the return on the right, and the later ones on top. Either way, the pick-up is on the left. Jim
Not really. My plumbing in the right lobe got dislodged. It would cut out about 8km after the fuel level warning light would light up. I would stop on the shoulder, put it on the side stand and then pull it over smartly to the left over the sidestand. Got enough fuel in left lobe for 35km. 2010 GSA
